Posted - 10 Apr 2012 : 8:15:56 PM I have an arab gelding called Light the Lot. He is listed on Allbreeds and I was told he is Polish. Just wondered if this is correct and what percentage. I'm not really up on bloodlines but find it all very interesting and amazing how they are all traced. |

Posted - 13 Apr 2012 : 2:24:43 PM Thanks Lin123, yes he is special and has got a special life as he should have. I can trace some of his races in USA but not over here. I would love to find of a photo of his racing days but could only find results in USA, but I didn't really know how to look. The lady who had him before me treasured him and he was a dressage star so can turn his hoof to most things. |

Posted - 12 Apr 2012 : 10:22:02 PM Hi Firelight
Everything (other than colour....no surprise there then!) seeems to fit into place for the Light the Lot that went through Ascot and if he caught Moosies' eye then he must be a special boy. I can vaguely remember him racing over here, would be back in about 2003/4. When I've got a bit more time I'll see if I can pull anything up for you, just to add a bit more to his 'CV'.
It really sounds as if he's had a super life after racing and that's so good to hear. I wish you every happiness with him

Posted - 11 Apr 2012 : 05:02:05 AM Hi Linda, his DOB 15.04.1996 and his passport breeding is the same as on Allbreeds. He has been doing dressage and hacking for the last 6 years in a brilliant home and now has come to me to enjoy hacking (which he loves) and generally be spoilt for the rest of his life. He is a lovely natured horse but very sensitive. |

Posted - 10 Apr 2012 : 11:02:24 PM Hi Moosie....don't worry I know what you mean!
Yes, this has been known from him in the past!! Two of quite a few I bought from him had suspect catalogue details. The dob on one was wrong from the passport and another was down as a grey and was in fact a flashy chestnut with four white socks!!!
Firelight.....what breeding/dob does his passport state?

Posted - 10 Apr 2012 : 10:50:17 PM yes Lin sure youre right (dont have the catalogue to hand!). It was Bill Smith that got the breeding wrong. I spoke to him before the sale as I was interested in him (Light the Lot not Bill Smith ...lol....) He (L the L!!!) was a very good sprinter in USA and even Mr S seemed keen for him to find a good home - such a sweet, jolly horse. |

Posted - 10 Apr 2012 : 9:59:28 PM Great research Callisto
Hi Moosie
I also saw him go through Ascot Sales, from Kelanne Stud (Shk Mo) in Augsust 2005....a lot of good horses at that sale!
My catalogue states that his breeding is Wiking x Potoria (US) and he was a 1996 bay gelding. Sold for £1400.

Posted - 10 Apr 2012 : 9:32:31 PM hi, are you sure the allbreeds pedigree is correct? Im only saying this as I saw him go through Ascot sales(he was lovely and I was sorely tempted!!) but thought he was by ZT Ali Baba? Depends on who put the info onto allbreeds I suppose |

Posted - 10 Apr 2012 : 8:53:18 PM I love his name! He is definitely of Polish breeding his sire Wiking was bred at the Polish state stud and exported to the USA in 1984, his dam sire Zloty Potok was also bred in Poland and exported to the USA, as was his his maternal grandsire Gondolier. His maternal Grand dam Dartia was bred in Sweden from Polish stock, so it's Polish breeding all the way. Further back in his pedigree Negatiw crops up a few times, he was bred in Russia and exported to Poland, and also introduces Crabbet lines because his sire Naseem was bred at Crabbet, Naseem's sire Skowronek was of course Polish bred, and bought by Lady Wentworth.
Priboj was also Russian bred, his sire was Polish and his dam was the Crabbet bred Rissalma, his grand daughter Wilma was born in Poland and exported to the USA. Wilma's sire Pietuszok was by Priboj out of the Russian bred Taktika, who was by Taki Pan - Polish and taken by the Soviets in 1939, out of Krona, Russian bred and 50% Crabbet. All gets a bit confusing, but yes his breeding is Polish |
