Posted - 21 Nov 2011 : 07:54:49 AM Birkrigg Park Arabians is near Kendal. In those days it was owned by the Jacksons. As far as I know, it is still in existence, now owned by the Titteringtons. |

Posted - 20 Nov 2011 : 11:03:28 PM I was sure the name was familiar so I checked the pedigree of the first part-bred Arab we had when I was young, and his grandsire was Ayton Royal. Would someone please tell me more about this line, where the stud was, etc? Sorry to hijack your thread, Stormy :) |

Posted - 19 Nov 2011 : 10:31:54 AM Sadly, I lost her to Cushings when she was 28 but I had the privilege of being owned by her for 26 years. I still have all 3 of her daughters, aged 25, 23 and 18, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a super mare, a very pretty chestnut with 4 white socks. She was a great jumper in her own right. We had her granddaughter out jumping a few weeks ago and a fellow competitor from the past immediately asked if she was related to Miss Ola because she looked exactly the same, except she was bay. She was right, even though she hadn't seen Miss Ola for about 12 years. It was lovely that she had remembered her so well.
The second horse in my sig pic, Incandescent Flame, is her great grandson and the palominos in the last pic are her granddaughter and great grandson. |

Posted - 17 Nov 2011 : 6:56:49 PM Oh Pintoarabian - that's so lovely to hear! I hope you don't mind i looked at your links and see that Miss Ola and Shaykh (my boy!) were both born at the same place - Birkrigg Park! How old is Miss Ola now? |

Posted - 16 Nov 2011 : 9:00:26 PM Ayton Rebel was the sire of my foundation mare, Miss Ola, so practically all of my home-bred stock have him in their pedigrees. They are successful performance(jumping)horses, with 3 currently competing in British Showjumping classes. Several of the others have been graded First Premium so I am a happy bunny to have his bloodlines. |
