Posted - 10 Jul 2011 : 10:52:41 PM My horse is by Kamarish out of Focus Shayla. I have looked up his pedigree on all breeds, but am interested to know what "type" of Arab he is. Kamarish seems to be largely OE/Crabbett. I know he was bred by the Maxwells and sold to a Mrs Turner. Focus Shayla was bred in America & imported when she was about 18 months old. Di Calvert had her for some time. My problem is that I don't know anything about American lines. I've heard of Babson & Kellogg, but that's about it. Can any of you breeding buffs out there clarify his heritage? Thanks, I'd be really grateful. Photos would be a bonus (I've seen the ones on all breeds)!

Posted - 12 Jul 2011 : 10:10:51 PM Thank you so much Keren. That's just what I wanted to know. He was advertised as Egyptian/Spanish when I bought him, but when I looked at his pedigree that seemed most unlikely. Yes, he is a nice type of Arabian.

Posted - 12 Jul 2011 : 9:54:49 PM Focus Shayla is primarily of 'American domestic' lines - horses that were bred in the US primarily from importation, This includes some Crabbet but also includes Davenports (desert imports) and Old Egyptian.
She does however have a straight New Egyptian grandsire in Ruminaja Ali (a very famous and influential sire), and a post WWII Polish line through Gdansk, who if I remember rightly was a champion Park horse in the 1980s.
Kamarish also has significant New Egyptian lines via Aswan (in Russia) and Shakhs, who was imported by the Maxwells from the USA. Rissaz and Kalila are both Old English, while Peschinka is Russian/Polish.
So I'm afraid your horse isn't - on the basis of bloodlines - any particular 'type', as his ancestry is quite an international mix. I'm sure though he is a nice type of Arabian!
