Posted - 20 Apr 2011 : 12:47:26 PM El Shaklan was a "golden cross, i.e. straight Egyptian stallion on a straight Spanish mare, Estopa was his dam. He was a fantastic sire and left some wonderful offspring and Estopa was a mare in a million, produced wonderful foals.

Posted - 19 Apr 2011 : 3:19:39 PM Hi Thanks for that :) Exactly the sort of summary I was looking for. Where's the best place to start when researching the bloodlines? |

Posted - 19 Apr 2011 : 2:31:06 PM I'm not an expert, but through her sire's side she is chiefly Crabbet/Old English. for example Spearmint is 100% Old English and 79.6875% Crabbet. Yemama is 100% Crabbet, Hanif was bred at Crabbet Park as was Rissalix who was sold to Lady Yule for her Hanstead Stud, where Blue Domino was born. Sirella was also bred at Crabbet by Lady Wentworth.
On her dam's side she is a good mixture, the lovely Camargue was 56% Crabbet, Plakat was straight Russian, Port Bask was Polish, as was Edykt, El Shaklan was Egyptian, she also traces back to Estopa who was Spanish.
Not sure if this is a very coherent summary, but it gives you an idea. |
