You need to select the picture URL (click and drag with your mouse) and once selected , just click simultaneously CTRL and the C key (CTRL+C). This will copy it and then you can paste it anywhere, either using the mouse or using CTRL + V.

Indeed. I only remembered it like 15 minutes after I had written about the others, so I didn't want to remove the others again. ;) |

Posted - 15 Dec 2010 : 1:40:15 PM Originally posted by Rui It's quite easy. All you need is to right click your mouse over the image and then choose Save picture as. You can choose the folder and name for the image.
Not so easy on Allbreed, Rui. ;) On the full pedigree page the image shows on a mouse-over event using javascript. This means that when you move the mouse towards the picture of the horse, the picture will disappear as you're moving away from the mouse-over event. On the photo page the programmers have set right click to open another menu than the standard web-browser one. Right clicking on an image there let's you choose to display progeny, pedigree etc for that horse.
There are at least 2 methods to get those pictures saved. One requires you to have picture software on the computer, the other one requires a certain understanding of internet addresses. ;) Both methods work on both pages.
First method is fairly easy, but requires picture software. Paint is fine. 1. Mouse over the image that allows you to see the picture 2. On keyboard, press shift+prtscn 3. In picture software make sure you have an empty file open that is big enough for the picture. 4. Choose paste from menus, mouse clicking or keyboard shortcut. You now have a screenshot of your browser so you'll have to crop the picture to only show the horse picture.
Method 2. On the pedigree page, right click and choose show source, source or equivalent (depends on browser). A wall of text appears. Press ctrl+f and type ped_p.gif this should mark out ped_p.gif on this line (example using Maymoon
<center><b>MAYMOON</b><a href="javascript:nothing();" onmouseover="showInfo(1);">
<img src="/images/ped_i.gif" border="0" hspace="2" align="absmiddle"></a> <a href="javascript:nothing();"
onmouseover="changeFloat('<center><b><big></big></b></center><br>
<img src=http://www.araberzuchtverband.de/vzap-neu/pics/elitepferde/maymoon-cte.jpg width=400>', event);" onmouseout="changeFloat('')">
<img src="/images/ped_p.gif" border="0" hspace="2" The img src http://www.araberzuchtverband.de/vzap-neu/pics/elitepferde/maymoon-cte.jpg is the horse picture. Copy the address, open a new browser window/tab and paste the copied address, press enter. This will show only the picture you want. Then you can right click the image and choose save as...
On the picture page (gamil manial as example): Do the same as previous example to show the source code. Then search (ctrl+f) for the horse's name. It should mark a similar line as this:
</td></tr><tr><td class=w valign='top'><center><a href="index.php?query_type=horse&search_bar=horse&horse=GAMIL MANIAL&g=5&t=">
GAMIL MANIAL</a></b></center><br>
<img src="http://images47.fotki.com/v1590/photos/1/102140/395864/GAMILM-vi.jpg" onMouseDown="clickMenu('GAMIL MANIAL',9,1,event);"width='300'><br><center>
gr. H, 1912 by SAKLAWI II ex DALAL AL ZARKA</center> img src http://images47.fotki.com/v1590/photos/1/102140/395864/GAMILM-vi.jpg is the address to copy. Paste in new browser window/tab and right click the image and choose save as.
Edited to add the easiest method of them all. On the horse, click edit information. In the new window, the link in: 'Picture URL:' is the address to the picture. Copy it, paste in new window and save image. ;) |
