Sorry about the quality. They are bound in big thick old folders which dont bend very well. I am worried that if I take them out they will all fall apart! |

Posted - 08 Dec 2010 : 8:46:54 PM Here we go then Sue.... here is the stallion listing for 1969:
ROCKFORD DESERT GOLD 1966 14.2 3/4" Sire Kingsettle Zecchino Dam Muston Desert Fox BPS vol III no 905 Stud Fee: 25 gns Owner Mrs. V Beales, Barclays Palomino Stud, Longcross, Nr. Chertsey, Surrey.
He won the California Cup for the best PBA in 1971
confusingly a stud advert for 1972 makes him a hand bigger:
Champion Palomino Stallion by champion Kingsettle zecchino out of Muston Desert Fox (pal) by Ch Foxall (Anglo Arab) 15.2hh reg BPS and PBAR, superb colour, excellent confirmation, outstanding action. Sire of winning palommino show stock. 1971 ch Hampshire, ch. Kent County, Supreme ch Enfield, Res Ch AHS Show, PBA Ch National Palomino champs. He was standing then at Pipers Green Arabian Stud, Surrey.
By Autumn 73 he was now "Supreme Champion Rockford Desert Gold" having achieved 32 championships in 4 years - and his stud fee had risen to 60 gns
The pictures are a bit disappointing I am afraid - all seem at a funny angle and none are coloured but I will load a few up for you. I've also got some of Kingsettle Zecchino. Debs |

Posted - 04 Dec 2010 : 11:31:17 AM OK Sue. I'll sort the mags out out for you.
I will put the Mortimer Forest in my diary but Jazz tied up again in November so I am going to rest her for the winter so dont know whether she will be fit enough. I could come and help though.
The latest news on Wyre Forest is that Trot are no longer involved and the Forestry Commission are considering what to do about permits. They are considering allowing local riders free access. I will let you know when I find out more.
I'll try to scan the photos for you in the next couple of days - might need to thin out my Flikr account first Best wishes Debs |

Can you email me the best pics of Desert Gold and anything that sounds interesting about him... Lorna was a bit before my time too, but I do remember how well she was doing with the dressage..and she was reported to be the oldest person competing for Brition abroad... great rider and not very tall...lovely place to live too...a real castle.. Cheers Sue keep me posted... |

Posted - 03 Dec 2010 : 8:05:15 PM Before my time Sue but there are 8 pictures of him in my palomino magazine ranging from 1968 to 1975 so he must have either won some stuff or been a stallion (i.e. photo is possibly stud advert).
Do you want me to dig the magazines out and post some photos? Debs |
