Posted - 17 Jul 2010 : 3:10:56 PM Looking at allbreeds real name could be Bouchan as age fits. Anyone tell me anything about the bloodlines. If it's right horse looks Crabbet/Polish to me. Does anyone know anything about this horse? He is in Wales at the moment and is a grey gelding. |

Posted - 16 Aug 2010 : 6:20:09 PM Sorry I've not replied to this so far. I've just had to edit the year Cakile won the BNC Gelding in my above post!
I don't have any digital photos of the horses I mentioned, but Kile has a gorgeous Sweet photograph in the book The Arabian Show Horse by Lesley Skipper, on page 224. I will dig out some old-style 35mm pics of the family, scan them and see what I can do!
Oops, Carleah's daughter was by Ibn Estasha (not as above) and her name is Alba Estalpa. Will have to hunt for some photos! |

Posted - 02 Aug 2010 : 10:01:40 PM Dilmoon was bred by the Martins at Mounie Castle. His dam, Catalpa, was then sold in foal to Kath Deschenes. This was Cakile, who went on to become the British National Champion Gelding (1991). Catalpa also bred their full-sister, Carleah, two years younger than Kile. He very sadly also died recently, but Leah is still enjoying retirement in Scotland. She bred a filly foal by Esta Espashan in 1991.

Posted - 30 Jul 2010 : 11:01:11 PM Oops, my spelling was atrocious in that last post.
Just to confirm it is buchan and tabu, sons of dilmoon and letari (legionnaire) |

Posted - 30 Jul 2010 : 10:57:35 PM Hi all. I own tabu, son of dilmoon and letari and full brother to Buchanan, grey arab, who I believe would now be about 14 or 15 years old. Tabu and I did come second in the Arab marathon in 2005 but unfortunately he had lymphynitus shortly after which cut his endurance career short.
I can confirm that with regards to his and buchans breeding, dilmoon, who sadly passed away earlier this year, was about 78percent crabbet and letari (legionnaire bloodlines) was crab bet polish, mostly polish but not too sure the percentage. Tabu and Buchanan are therefore about half and half crabbet polish.
Tabubhas high mileage on the endurance circuit but Buchan has not done much at all to my knowledge. Buchan was an entire until about ten years old. I rode him as an entire and he was a complete gentleman. I wanted to buy the only full brother to my horse but could not afford him mat the time. He has had several homes since and never rally settled but he is a sweet natured horse who just needs someone with a incident and quiet manner.
I have not seen him for a few years now but if he's annoying like his full brother tabu and how I remember him he is well worth going to look at and I would like any feedback as I know his breeder would like to know his whereabouts now.
I have pics of buchan if you want to see them, email me on cae80@hotmail.com.
Thanks Carly (Tagus owner) |

Posted - 21 Jul 2010 : 5:41:11 PM Thanks Jan just found his record on Endurance GB so if it's him not so low mileage afterall, there is another horse called Tabu but with a prefix so not sure which one it was at the Marathon in 2005 as results only go back to 2006. |

Posted - 21 Jul 2010 : 2:47:22 PM A grey gelding called Tabu was second in the AHS Marathon 3 or 4 years ago - the year that Jo Chisholm won it on Khanspur.
Hope that helps.

Posted - 21 Jul 2010 : 12:57:30 PM Thanks guys, according to Allbreeds Dilmoon only had two foals, full brothers out of a mare called Letari who is by Legionnaire so the gelding in question is probably one of them. The other one is called Tabu so equally possible to have been changed to Beau and his is the right age so think he must be the one. Just toying with the idea of looking at him although probably wouldn't be sensible to get another horse especially an older one in the current climate. If anyone is interested in a nice ridden gelding pm me. |

Posted - 18 Jul 2010 : 4:37:30 PM Dilmoon was probably bred by either Mounie Castle Arabians in Aberdeenshire (now disbanded) or Kath Deschene , originally located in Lochmaben, Dumfriesshire. |
