i have a bright bay egyptian arab called buck, his registered name is meant to be 'jewel of the nile' however no luck tracking his papers down under that name.
i do not have his papers or his original passport, i have a duplicate passport under the horse passport agency.
i have been trying desperately to find his papers or his sire and/or dam, anything that will help me track down his papers.
i really want to do bigger shows as i have done so well at local shows and have qualified for a lot with him.
i have been in touch with his old owner but she was no help, i have been in touch with the arab horse society and they only have a mare under that name.
if anyone could help i would be so grateful!
i bought him from a yard in ashton, wigan 5/6 years ago.
if anyone has any info about him, parents, breeder/stud/whatever please contact me!

thanks, aimee.

Keep at it..Go back and speak to the girls on the yard in Ashton, see if there is anything else they can add.

The fact that he came from Lancashire, means he was in the right part of the Country for the two sales these horses went through.

There is one girl that posts on here that knows all about the Jabask horses and many of those that were left in Wales and sold on..she might recognise him..
Just can't remember her name now, she's out in UEA.

How was the mare Jewel of the Nile bred. wondered why they used that name..

Sue.

yes, i do think he holds a very similar likeness to the jabask horses as i have done some looking into them.
i dont think that his previous owner will help me however i will try and see if she is willing to cooperate and give me more information that i know she has!
i will carry on trying and continue trying to trace anything i can and let you know if i come up with anything.
thank you all for your time, you have all been very helpful!
i think this is, unfortunately, where i hit a wall in attempting to find any trace of him.
obviously i will keep trying but im not getting my hopes up.
thank you again,
aimee

Hold yout horses, I think you'll come up with the same problems you already have..As some of the British (or Welsh) bred Jabask horses ended up without paperwork...No photo's and No AHS register. There were a lot of Bays and Greys. GG Jabask was bay, and he died in 1995, Bo Jadask came here in 1992??, and sired quite a few horses, some where sold with no paperwork..Its true your Buck could be from one of the lines, he looks a bit similar and is Bay and no paperwork.

I have the list of the horses that went to Malvern sale in 1998, some were just foals, some had no paperwork and some went for killing (sold too cheap), Some sold and doing well, I know two that are racing and at least two doing endurance..
Just one or two were bay and would ne a similar age to your buck.
There are a few about, I know one women who bought one USA bred mare ( cost a lot to buy and get here), who was sold for £200 without the papers..the lady who bought her at the sale, paid another £20 for the papers. As I already said the owner was out the country..

One of the stallions is still at stud in Wales, a Grey horse. and two Jabask bred horses are competing at the Golden Horseshoe next week( both bays I think)

My advice is to go back to the person you bought him from and find out the truth..them come back and see if we can help you them.

GG Jabask is the stallion that the name Jabask belongs too, he lived his life in the USA, only his offsprings made it to here.
Keep at it..
Sue

wow!
almost identical!
i think so too, ill look into that.
buck's coat is just a tiny bit lighter and he has more of a star at the top of his blaze, but i swear they could be related!
thank you very much for that

Just did a quick google of Jabask and came up with this straight awayhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjbmIh8lipA
Now is it just me or does this horse have a very similar look to Buck?
I think Rozy Rider might be right about the Jabask connection.
aimeeandbuck Posted - 11 May 2010 : 5:07:17 PM
unfortunately the AHS cannot find any horses under jauhar/jauhar el nil.
i dont know what else i can do now exept wait and see if anyone recognises him or his old owner(s) decide to get in touch.
thank you all for you time and effort, much appreciated!

aimeeandbuck Posted - 10 May 2010 : 12:20:27 PM
i will do that when i am at home as i dont have them on my school computer
and does that mean finding his papers will be very slim?
ill still try looking into the egyptian name jauhar/jauhar el nil and see what comes up.
i will also email the AHS when i get home too.
thanks, aimee

Aimee, We can see them, they look a bit small. I tryed to enlarge them to see the detail, but it did not work..

Can you email me the LARGE size pic in the field of rape and I'll see if I can get the detail up ..
Sue

He is not dis similar to the Jabask horses...I think..they were mostly bay with some white legs/feet.
They were also sold late in the 1990's and some as foals...and lost.(not found out where they went).

Sue
Lanabanana Posted - 09 May 2010 : 7:54:13 PM
Took me a while to find the photo I'd post it in this thread if you can, that way more people will see it.
El Nil means of the Nile I think, I'll ask my Iranian friend if she can think what it could be in Farsi, she's told me the meaning of some of my horses names.
aimeeandbuck Posted - 09 May 2010 : 6:16:04 PM
thanks pashon2001, ive looked into it thanks to sue and her link to egyptian names.
and i have tried googling them but no luck so far, i have been in touch with the website he was advertised on and i am now waiting for a reply, i will keep trying his old owner but i doubt she will be of any use!
i have put some pictures up in the photo album in shared pictures i think, i dont know whether ive done it right but there is one picture of me riding him in a field so far.
thanks for your help,
aimee

Just a thought but maybe his name MEANS Jewel of the Nile not actually is that. He could have an arabic name, lots of egyptians do.
aimeeandbuck Posted - 09 May 2010 : 4:49:55 PM
i was told by his previous owner he was an arab, she did not tell me he was egyptian though, i put an advert up and someone from his old yard told me he was an egyptian arab however did not remember/know anything else about him.
and i know, i wonder what else she has been lying about, she lied about his age, she told me he was completely sound, he has two front splints that are settled and he has had many leg and back problems over the years.
i will put a picture up now and see if anyone recognises him.
i will look into his egyptian name for the name ive been given but im not getting my hopes up, ive had no good news in the 5 years ive been looking
thank you both so much for your time and effort, i really appreciate it, i will look into it and hopefully find something, i will also try talking to his old owner and see if she is willing to give me some correct information!
thanks, aimee
Rozy Rider Posted - 09 May 2010 : 3:40:06 PM
I agree with Lalabamba, there must be more clue's if you want to trace him.
Try to find out where he came from.. he might have been sold in a sale..several of the Jabask horses were sold off without papers, that was a few years ago, some sold at Llanybydder & others at Beeston Market...You need more info and more clue's to make a start any where..

If anyone can trace your horse, it will be through these lines. they are excellent investigators with loads of knowledge.
Good Luck.
Sue

Have you looked to see what the Egyption name is.. for the name you've been given..??
Lanabanana Posted - 08 May 2010 : 11:41:43 PM
There aren't any purebreds on allbreeds with that name, doesn't mean there aren't any though, it could just mean no one has entered him on that site, although if the AHS don't have a boy with that name it seems likely that it's not his registered name if indeed he is registered with the AHS.

Could you ask the previous owner who she bought him from?
Why do you think he's Egyptian breeding, did the previous owner tell you that? If so how come she doesn't know any other history?
If you could post some photos of him on here, it may help jog someones memory, especially if he has any white markings to help identify him.

I'm sorry if that sounds a little negative, but I used to own an unregistered horse (not Arab) she did quite well at local shows and I managed to trace her owners back to the 70's (it was a long time ago) only to find that she didn't have papers and was several years older than the seller had told me she was.

Good luck, I hope somebody can help
