I have come across some more pictures of Goldmount Bourbon Genius. The first one is when he was younger so is lot better than the picture I posted on allbreeds. Shame I cant find a coloured one!
and here is another of him when he was clearly an old boy.

What a small world! I am chuffed that we are now in touch and will pm you to perhaps arrange to meet up. I am only in Worcestershire so not terribly far from Oxfordshire. I did want to arrange to visit Janet Browne in Bicester as well because she has the Roundhills stud. I assume you have already visited there as she is a near neighbour of yours?
Although I have done a bit of palomino and partbred Arab showing I have never done much on the Saddlebred side. I did a few classes in the 80's with my old girl Fayrelands Hawaiian Dawn who is a GBG grand-daughter and have been a member of the ASAoGB since then.
Fayre is nearly a palomino NSH being 25% Saddlebred and 5/8 Arab and she has totally sold me on both breeds which is why I think the NSH is the best of both worlds. Fayre can turn her hand at anything and can win Riding Horse classes against all the bays as well due to her AMAZING movement. Even at nearly 28 she floats around with the grace of the Arab and the huge movement from the saddlebred. I bet Arabella is the same.
I bought my youngster Diva from Sarah and Robin 12 months ago. She is fabulous but it has been a rollercoaster of a year. Look up "Diva's bone cyst" in the search/archives on here and you can see that I havent been able to do anything with her at all, other than a photo show in the states which she took Reserve Supreme Champion.
However (touches wood many times) she has now been sound for several months following surgery in July and I am just about to send of my entries for the Saddlebred Shows in Moreton Morrell, Warwick with the other Saddlebred Society UK-ASA. Their shows are fab and I cant wait to get her there. We also intend to do the palomino shows so that palomino people (other than Carole Ferguson, Jan Browne and myself) can remember how lovely the Saddlebreds were. In the 80's there were loads of big pallys with Saddlebred heritage - Kentucky Bourbon Belyda, Fayrelands Dancing Magic, Zalaman, Moonshine Vision to name just a few.

Arabella is indeed from Marschal & Cream Rose.. I bought her from Sarah & Robin when she was 7 months old. I at that point in time had no idea why, but now realise how special to me she is. Keeping me sane all these years of motherhood. 
Ive backed & brought her on very slowly over the last 7 years, largely due to having my family in the middle of it all (3 boys) They are all at nursery and school now so the last year has been a great one for us. Unfortunately shes an out and out farm girl now hardly the glam world of NSH I keep her at an old working farm in witney - great hacking and local facilities. We had our first out and abouts last season and did some in-hand showing in Arab classes..she took champ or reserv champs in them all.
Arabella is an extremly intelligent horse which obviously comes with its pros and cons. Shes loves being in work and busy, showing her great paces and movements to anything that will watch. I now see where her show skills come from! Because of that and the amazing golden colour she goes in summer shes well known locally by everyone as Barbie! Shes 100% in every way however she not for the faint hearted if she thinks your easy youve had it LOL
We have just started jumping and I believe I have found her sole! I lost my old competition mare last summer so she has my full attention now and we are both loving it!
I cant believe you have been trying to track us down, ive kept myself upto date on ASB news and shows but alsa they are always so far away, i feel out of the loop here in good oul Oxfordshire....I would love to have more of a link in with such things but as ive said ab's and I are farm girls!
How is her half sister? does she sound anything like us? what do you do with her? I am assuming you are an old hand at the NSH shows and alike. I would love to stay in touch, just so i can keep arabella associated to saddlebreds more often than not saddlesbreds are unheard of and she is assumed arab. people are almost dismissive of her saddlebred half which is the half of her i promote and love!

omg. Is Arabella by Mareschal by any chance and out of Roundhills Cream Rose? If so I have got her half sister here who is a purebred palomino saddlebred out of Cream Rose.
I have contacted both Sarah Wilkinson and Sarah at the Stonewalls Stud to try to track you down because I was really interested in how your mare turned out as she may be the only palomino National Show Horse in the country. I love NSH's.
Can you post some pictures of Arabella please and let us know what you do with her. I am only back from holiday today but I will try to put some more up to date pictures of my girls on here.

Its funny Arabella- is the button of GBG and is indeed a stunning golden pally! thank you for the wonderful information it seems she comes from Country Roses x Roundhills Hawaiian Harvest (grandparents)Goldmount Bourbon Genius x Goldmount latest Fashion (great GPS)I called her Arabella Country Rose after her mothers linage..i see where she fits in now..are your girls Palomino?
The article that you photo posted hasnt quiet come through do you have a name or ISBN number I could follow? its so wonderful to read on the history even if it all did only begin in 1966!!

I loved Asti's long neck - you felt really safe on board as there was so much in front of you - particularly when jumping large cross-country fences - and luckily enough the long neck has been passed on to her daughter and grand-daughter. |

How very dare you !!! (stands back in horror ). IMO there is nothing freakish about their necks it is just the way they are trained in the states to go with their heads right in the air. They do they same to their Arabs and Morgans.
Mine both have long necks but everything else is long too so they look in proportion. I think saddlebreds are like Anglo Arabs but with a more elevated action.

Palomino Saddlebreds - my favourite subject.
I have got a Bourbon Genius granddaughter at the grand age of 27, and a great granddaughter who is a yearling. Dont quite know how they can be only one generation removed with a 26 year age gap  - looks like Roundhills Hawaiian Harvest was breeding well into his dotage.
Both of mine are very lovely ladies. What is the name of your filly Jachap and is she pally?
I know that the first palomino saddlbred imported was Goldmount Majesty by Mrs. Kemp, closely followed in 1966 by Goldmount Bourbon Genius and Goldmount Kathy Haines. They were imported by Jan Browne - Roundhills Stud. Jan is still breeding on a smaller scale. She then went on to import Goldmount Latest Fasion and Country Roses (and probably loads of others that I dont know).
I have got palomino magazines with an article from Jan Borwn where she describes the journey on the ship from USA and how they were hoisted onto the dock with a crane and straps under their tummies. I will sort the article out and post it.
Mack's Golden Stepper, Bebop of Goldmount and Goldmount Majesty were imported by another stud shortly after. I have got photos and an article on them as well if you are interested.
I can PM you Jan Browne's number if you want to get in touch with her and get the story "straight from the horses mouth" as it were. I am sure that she will have photos. I keep meaning to go and visit myself and have spoken to her on the phone.
Good luck with your search and post your findings because there are a few palomino breeders on here who are interested in the old golden Saddlebred heritage. |

My dear Astarte was by Goldmount Bourbon Genius - and Cheryl Lutring still has her full sister who I sold to her as a weanling. I have Asti's daughter and grand-daughter - see the pics on my signature. Asti was a 16.2 - and the most amazing horse. She would do anything from showing (Supreme champion at the Southern Palomino) - to cross country and showjumping. I also have some picture of breaking her in with my three year old son - and another of her jumping 3' plus when both she and my son were 9 years old. The saddlebred temperament is incredible - as they are usually very showy when asked - but switch off when asked as well. |

On the subject of goldmount I am the proud owner of his great great grand daughter. I am currently penning a book about my travels with her and am trying to trace her heritage how the goldmounts came to Britain. |
