Have come across an advert for Shepley Stud in 1966. This has another photo of "Whispering Corn". They dropped the Weston which we have come across with other Shepley horses (e.g. Sundowner/Kimberley Sundowner)

In 1966 Whispering Corn had a pally colt at foot called Storm King and was in foal to Mr. Sun-Tan again. The advert says that Whistpering Corn was 15.2hh and states her breeding as by Cream of the Border out of a thoroughbred mare.

I have found a picture of Weston Whispering Corn for you. This is in a 1971 magazine and shows her with her colt foal at foot by Mr. Suntan.

This is her daughter Weston Cream Candy

This is Alyosha who is also mentioned in your thread

Sunset Golden Wonder was owned by Mr & Mrs D. J. Cook, Creekvale Stud, Creekmoor, Poole, Dorset, according to a Pony Stallion Guide I got.
No further detail availble in it.

I'd think that Weston Blondy was a Palomino or close. If it was a TB and had Edwards prefix, that would indicate they'd have bred it..and if its a TB then it would be trace-able.

I think the Blondie your after is the one thats the dam of Mrs E S Morris's Westwood Golden Duke.( Palomino bred).

Also look at Sunset Golden Wonder, his dam is Whispering Corn and He was Champion in 1965 at Ponies of Britain. Maybe someone will have the write up for this show or the catt. and just maybe his dam gets a mention.

Marie,(by Sunset Golden Wonder 1970, was Palomino and bred by Mr E Fisher.

Another mention of Blondie. Leaving the link:

Keep dancingXXXX sorry, looking.

I found a Blondie in GSB Vol 30. She was a bay born 1940 by Precipitation out of imp. Merry Gal II by Sir Gallahad III.
She was barren in 1944 to Tolgus and there is no produce racorded in this volume of the GSB.
It might be a very long shot but perhaps she was sold on to the non thoroughbred market?

Thanks Lynda that's great, do you know who Weston Blondy's sire & dam were(can't find a weston blondy with Wetherbys)? Also is the BPS, the British Palomino Society?
Rozy Rider Posted - 16 Nov 2009 : 10:23:34 PM
Bingo..is that the jackpot..then.
Sue
PS.(I remember a palomino mare about 13.2hh called Cream Puff.)
Lynda Posted - 16 Nov 2009 : 4:17:10 PM
The BPS have just returned my call - we are in luck! Weston Whispering Corn 1955 was by a Palomino stallion called Cream of the Border and out of a Thoroughbred mare called Weston Blondy.

Cream of the Border by Cosmopolitan Jack (by Sir Cosmo ex Red White & Blue) out of Jim (Gym) Crow. Both spellings have been entered.

Hope this helps

How about the BPS, anything in there...

No Weston Whispering Corn in NPS. Waiting for Palomino Society to come back to me on Monday. Keep everything crossed.
Melynda Posted - 13 Nov 2009 : 7:02:54 PM
Haven't found any horse under the name Weston Whispering Corn, Whispering Corn in the Welsh stud book indexes from that time.
Loads of Weston ... ponies bred by the Edwards though.
Her off-spring Weston Cream Candy mentioned above has not got any studbook reference for her dam.

Have pm'd you Sue.
Rozy Rider Posted - 13 Nov 2009 : 1:59:44 PM
Just a line, all the horses recorded on allbreeds have been put there by someone..... so it does not mean that there is no record of her lines, it just means that no one has found it yet. Melynda & Lynda or Pelle, Dormouse, saddlebred etc etc., might find it in some of there old info/registers, I've still got to find time to check out mine yet..so there is still hope...
The other Palomino breeder from those times lives not too far from these others I've mentioned, they all new each other and they often swopped/sold horses to each other..so there is still a few places to look..I'd be interested to know what you have at home and what year of births your talking about.

Hi, well done Rozy Rider, good detective work! I have sent the Weston Stud an e-mail, to see if they know anything about this mare, as all the Whispers don't have a pedigree noted on the allbreed site. Maybe they will be able to confirm her pedigree, as I noticed that the Weston Park Stud in Australia, set up by the Edwards also imported a Riding Pony, as well as lot's of Welsh A's & B's. Worth a try! Thanks again!

Miska,Bia, and all
Ref to the prefix, In all the 1960 ies ponies registered in the PBAR, they have no 'S' on the end, I think it should be WESTON.see the link I've left you below, I think this is the Stud. Mr & Mrs Edwards left the counrty and the family carried on under Carol & John Jones. There are very famous pony breeders.left you the link..

They used ALYOSHA (VIII) & MERCURY (X) (AHSB)
WERNLAS GOLD & SILVER is also by Cosmepolitan Jack 1943.

Mrs D.D. Edwards also registered WESTON stock in 1960 ies.
(just a gut feeling but I thought they were situated in Wales, I think we met them at Fayre Oaks).
Found this: http://www.westonstud.com/

BUT, it looks like Whispering Corn is bred the same way ( and with out the WESTON)
Look at SUNSET GOLDEN WONDER and all the offsprings of ALYOSHA, there are loads, you might get a clue...http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/alyosha.

Mr & Mrs Collings at Shepley Stud,Bromsgrove had Alyosha, keen palomino breeders.
Also spotted that SARNAU Stud (Wales),who was another keen palomino breeder, with three palomino stallions, they have/had a Whispers mare that went to Alyosha and produced Alison another Palomino.

Miska Posted - 12 Nov 2009 : 8:17:09 PM
The Westons prefix comes from Westons Place in Warnham, sussex - it was at one point owned by a K.Dempsey (I think). She is listed as Miska's, my horses, first owner. Unfortunatly I have never been able to find K.Dempsey
kastell Posted - 12 Nov 2009 : 6:53:48 PM
Thanks Barabia & Melynda, so it looks like this mare was of Welsh origins, purely going by her name, if so would she be listed in any Welsh Stud books (I don't know anything about Welsh breeding / Societies!)? Just it would be nice to fill in the gap on Weston Cream Candy's pedigree.
Melynda Posted - 12 Nov 2009 : 5:45:02 PM
Maybe a long-shot?Bia

I think so as this Weston Whispering Corn is the dam of Weston Cream Candy (PBAR Vol VII) by Alyosha (AHSB VIII) Palomino born 1961 and bred by Mr J. A. Edwards.
The mare must date back pre 60s doesn't mention a studbook reference on her and no mention of her breeding.
There are loads of Weston Welsh ponies and Welsh partbreds but I haven't found this one yet.

Hi kastell,

I found two mares (full sisters) when searching the Datasource (USA):

http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/westons+silver+opal

Maybe a long-shot?

Hi Rozy Rider, I've already looked at the allbreedpedigree site, my question was "does anyone know who this mare's dam was", as it's not showing on the site?
