Does anyone have the old volumes of PBA-registers?
My father-in-law imported an *oriental stallion* called ALi (unregisted??) from UK to Paraguay in the 1940:ies. ALi was by a stallion called Northwind (pba vol IV) out of a mare called Rasha (??) by Farrash (Arab vol IV) out of an imorted Gulf mare, bred by a Miss M A Bright, Exning,Newmarket. Does anyone has any information about these horses? Was they arabs or barbs?
ALi was used alot at both my father-in-laws estancias for many years so almost all our horses are related to him in one way or another.

All we now is a photograph of PANDORA 1958, and any more photographs from Pelle to add to the family tree.

Cheers Sue

Thanks Ronnie, Leaving you this one from Pelle, from her old photos, he does look a good sort, looks ideal for crossing with our small TB' and Riding ponies...and not forgetting a dash of our Part Bred Arabs, before I get murdered.

Silver Shales.

Hi Sue, Silver Shales was from the bloodlines of the old Roadsters - forerunner of the Hackney. He was a good type of a leg in each corner and well put together and tough looking. There is a very nice pic of him in a book, somewhere, pure white and obviously as an older horse, blowed if I can find it though. Will keep him in mind.

My sister and I are hoping to go to Malvern on the Saturday.

Found this for Silver Shales, I think he was a Hckney.

Google search can up with this.
Silver Shales was used for polo in the 1950's & 60's. And, the ability of the Hackney as a jumper has been known for many years

Hi Zighy, I think I remember Silver Shales, at least I remember the name, Wonder if anyone can turn up a pic of him...If you look on all breeds and go to the drop down list, those you've mentioned are there....have you any pics we can add....

Anyone do a seach and find us Silver Shales pic please...

Hi Ronnie, Great stuff, those were the days, we could do with all Miss Ferguson's stud covering books, that would crack it.. Wonderful picture, thank you so much. Wondering what others pics you have in your old mags.
Do you have anything for the Ridng Pony register for those days and in the 1970ies...
Looking for info on a chestnut mare, called Out of the Blue,(Cherry) another one in Miss Ferguson's covering book, she went to John & Carol Gould's Trellock Stud in 1970 -71 ish and bred several for them...I'm after all her produce names etc.etc....
Just in case you can throw light on any of these...

All the best, hope to catch up with you sometime. Are you at the Nationals..

Have only just caught up with this so sorry for delay. I can't remember Gale or Pandora (!!!)but I found this pic of Gale in a pamphlet of Part-bred and Anglo show ponies that was printed around the late 50's early 60's.
I'm presuming this is the mare already mentioned, dam of Pandora.

Rozy Rider Posted - 13 Jul 2009 : 11:55:12 PM
Gale is the dam of a pony called Pandora, who I think I remember from the late 1950'ies/early 1960'ies. Can anyone add anything else about Pandora. she was covered by a local stallion, Miss Ferguson's Bwlch Zephyr who was resident at Rosevean Stud in Worecster, UK.
Will add the only pic I have of Bwlch Zephyr, who was by Bwlch Valentino (will add his pic too the all breeds for any of the riding pony fans from that time.

Rosevean Stud's groom from those days, posts on here and may be able to ad something, she may remember Gale visiting the stud...

So how did the ponies get to the other side of the world and to you..

How very interesting! This mare Gale is full sister to our stallion ALi, and she was covered by the stallion Silver Shales , that stallion is grandsire of another mare we have here, by Finmere grey shales (by shales red squirrel by silver shales), even if we are on the other side of the world the bloodlines are the same!

I have old Part-bred registers. Have had a look through Vol 1V and North Wind (1925) is there. He is down as being white in colour.

Sire: Pole Star (imp) (Desert bred) Arab

Dam: Zephyr by North Star (imp) Arab

Owned and bred by Miss M.A. Bright, The Paddocks, Hook Norton, Oxon

If I find anything else, I will let you know.

It might also help to try to search for the pure bred side.http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/farrash2
and have you looked at this entry.
