Posted - 27 Feb 2014 : 4:41:30 PM The entry from the British Riding Pony Stud Book for Jennifer's Diary is:
JENNIFERS DIARY RP.AM/1585 Brown Foaled: 1992 Sire: OTTERGAYLE GSB Dam: LILLY LANGTREE - Owner: Mrs J Williams, Glebe Farm, Verney Road, Winslow, Buckingham, Bucks MK18 3BN Breeder: Mrs M Lewin, Rolletts Marsh, Westleton Road, Darsham, Suffolk IP17 3BS
The Stud Book Volume is online here and includes Pendley Apassionata as well:

Do you know Lilly Langtree's TB breeding, SueN? I can't find a Lilly Langtree in the TB database on Equineline (unless she was foaled in Kentucky in 1965) so since the above doesn't say GSB for Lilly Langtree whereas it does for the sire, it sounded to me like she wasn't TB, or at least not a registered one. There are two Jennifer's Diary TB mares in the TB database but neither is by Ottergayle so not the dam of Pendley Apassionata.
There are mistakes on AllBreeds related to Pendley Apassionata's pedigree (for instance instead of Lilly Langtree it gives Burglar's Hi-Light, the latter according to her progeny list had two foals by different stallions in the same year). |

Posted - 27 Feb 2014 : 3:23:31 PM Jenifers Diary, the dam of Pendley Apassionata, was definitely a Thoroughbred. |

Posted - 27 Feb 2014 : 11:13:16 AM It doesn't get you any further with the breeding enquiry, but you might like to know that the Pendley prefix belonged to Mrs Dorian Williams, wife of the then wellknown BBC equestrian commentator Dorian Williams. Mrs Williams, think her name may have been Jennifer, bred some very successful show ponies, and possibly also hacks. They lived at Pendley Manor, which I think may be near Tring in Hertfordshire. |

Posted - 26 Feb 2014 : 4:18:44 PM There seem to be three Jennifer's Diary, two are TB and one a riding pony/hack who's dam was Pendle Attraction. Do we actually know for sure which was the dam of Pendley Apassionata?
The Jennifer's Diary mentioned in the original post is RP.AM/1585. I'm not totally familiar with pony registration but wondering if that stands for riding pony appendix mare? Pendley Apassionata is registered in the British Riding Pony Studbook.
Edit: Just found Jennifer's Diary in the British Riding Pony Stud book with the RP.AM/1585 number. She's listed as by Ottergayle (TB) x Lilly Langtree with no breed given for the latter. That's the same grandsire but not the same granddam that is shown on Allbreeds (under Pendley Appasionata, two p's one s) so the dam potentially wasn't full TB. This Jennifer's Diary was owned by the breeder of Pendley Apassionata, so now what was Lilly Langtree - doesn't appear to be a registered Arab or TB. |

Posted - 24 Feb 2014 : 6:47:43 PM There looks to be another Jennifer's Diary, which was in the "small hacks" at HOYS and out of Pendle Attraction according to the Pendle website:

So far no luck in getting further back with her pedigree via Google. Do you have her pedigree any further back? |

Posted - 22 Feb 2014 : 5:14:53 PM Don't know if this will help or not. If the information on All Breeds is correct the sire of your horse is at least 12.5% Arab but it does not look as though he is 25%. The name of the dam you give is not on All Breeds but the progeny of the sire shows that he had a foal out of a mare called Jenifers diary who was a TB. If this is the same dam as your horse then it would appear that yours does not have 12.5% Arab blood and while you do not need 12.5% to register as a Part Bred you do need 12.5% to show in PB Arab classes. However your horse has some lovely horses in his pedigree including the legendary Bwlch Valentino, Hyperion and Brigadier Gerard. Enjoy your horse, you know he has Arab blood and he probably does as well. |
