Posted - 13 Feb 2011 : 12:25:42 AM Hi everyone, i am new to this forum and would like some advice. Around 2003/2004 a friend of mine bought an Arab stallion from Southall market, he was a walking hat rack, in very poor condition, and had no paperwork about breeding etc. She managed to get some weight on and had him gelded and backed. I fell in love with him and bought him, but we know nothing at all about his background or breeding. Now i have owned him for all this time and it hasn't mattered that i don't know anything about him, but it would be interesting to find out, BUT, and here's my question, where do you start with absolutely no information. He is about 18, but could be older/younger, aprox 15hh, chestnut, blaze, white chin, four white stockings, thin mane( even for an Arab)flaxen with some dark hairs. He is a lovely boy, and trusts me, but he is easily scared, and his mind is a mess, so god knows what happened to him before we owned him!! If i can get a photo on here i will later.
Thankyou.

Posted - 08 Feb 2012 : 10:53:39 PM Do you have more photos of him especially facial? he looks a bit like one we bred in 1990, who we called Mazar AKA Jumby ( cos he was a huge leggy foal who was unable to stand for first day or so!!) by Crown of Argosy out of Mafida, but ive been hunting for the foal photos to compare leg markingsmore pics please, im going to see me mum tomorrow, she bred him, we have lost touch im sure but she probably has the foaly pics!!.

Posted - 08 Feb 2012 : 08:52:11 AM Fii, Do you think you could post some more photos of him? Perhaps his head from the front so that we could see his face markings better. Do you think he's a purebred? To me he looks as though he could be a partbred, he looks quite similar in shape and head to a PBA I used to own, it's not him I hasten to add as he's now owned by my niece. Did you manage to find out any more details from your friend? Good luck with your search, although I fear the trail will have gone rather cold by now, but you never know.....

Posted - 15 Feb 2011 : 6:27:06 PM Yes Hollyhill, definitely high % Crabbet, I should think. At least being chestnut & white he's going to be very recognisable.

Posted - 14 Feb 2011 : 4:30:23 PM Is there anything your pal can tell you about the day she bought him from Southall, did she speak to the vendor..any clue's at all.
Several stud gave up and he may have travelled from another part bof the Country to end up in Southall, as a lot of the dealers travel the sales and distance has never been a consideration. I'd also see if you can get a few back issues of H & H and see if there was anything that resembles him for sale prior to the southall sale date.
Can anyone remind me when the Tadsor horses were sold on... was that around this time...???.
Good Luck you'll need some. Sue

Posted - 13 Feb 2011 : 08:39:26 AM I agree with Linda, photos are always helpful as there may be someone out here who just may recognise him. Or im so happy he is in a loving home, a horses trust for its owner is priceless. Hope you can get the answers you are looking for. Take care Katiexx

Posted - 13 Feb 2011 : 07:54:58 AM The first thing to do would be to post some photos of him on here, showing his markings, in the hope that someone recognised him. Good luck and welcome to AL
