Posted - 09 Jun 2009 : 2:43:54 PM Hello,
Very much new to the forum, I hope someone here might be able to shed some light on a horse that I have been searching for for some months.
Aden Grey Crystal by Crystal Monarch x Goryonda is now registered as a grey gelding. I am almost certain that he would have been purchased as a chestnut colt at a dispersal sale held at Heath Farm near Winkleigh, Devon probably in 1997 but may well have chanegd hands since. I am led to believe that he is still registered as living in Devon.
If anyone has any information regarding this horse or its history I woudl be most interested in hearing from them.
All the best, Luke

Posted - 17 Oct 2009 : 08:08:14 AM Apologies for the very much belated response to your post. Barbara and David were good friends of my partners family and it is good to hear from someone who remembers them for the quality of their breeding, not just arabs but all their animals. Barbara sold some of her simmentals to my girlfriend's father and they are some of his strongest lines.
I believe that the Gucci mare you referred to is in fact Goryonda. Several people have suggested to me that she came from a dispersal sale in Sussex and that she had historically change hands for substantial sums in the 10s of thousands before Brabara and David acquired her (for considerably less). Goryonda had a distinctive port-wine stain/blood mark on her front right shoulder (if I remember correctly). Not sure if that rings any bells.
Best regards, Luke

Posted - 03 Aug 2009 : 9:30:59 PM Hi,I used to visit David and Barbara Goddard of Heath farm, delving into my memory bank here. I remember Crystal Monarch well, once seen never forgotten,a real fairytale Arabian, extreme quality, very refined,no plastic bags to make him float.I remember? a young colt by him, small, definitely grey, cant remember his name. They did not register a lot of their foals. They had another stallion,King Cotton Silver who was bay,by King Cotton Gold out of Silver Sheen.I remember a big 16hh chestnut 3 year old he was lovely. Unfortunately as ill health came to Barbara, it was hard for both of them. These once very dedicated breeders who purchased the best crabbet and old english bloodlines, though they did have Argos, and they bought a mare of polish breeding from the Gucci sale |

Posted - 04 Jul 2009 : 09:11:50 AM Luke, if you know anyone in EGB it would be worth asking if they have heard of him on the endurance circuit, as lots of people with Arabs give the sport a go. A friend of mine found out a lot of information about a horse she was looking for this way. |

Posted - 04 Jul 2009 : 08:42:00 AM Thank you to everyone who has taken time to read this topic. As yet I still haven't located Aden Grey Crystal.
I thought I might add some more information that I have discovered. The Arab Horse Society has suggested to me that they do not infact have information that Aden Grey Crystal has been gelded and that they have had no contact with the registered owners since the laste 90s, I assume that these would therefore have been the people who purchased the colt from the sale. However, on allbreedpedigree he is listed as a gelding, so I suspect that someone has updated the website with this information. From his breeding and how he looked when we last saw him back in 1997, he would now be grey. This is his pedigree:
http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/aden+grey+crystal
I am almost certain that our mare is the daughter of Aden Grey Crystal and even if she cannot be registered I would love to be able to prove her pedigree. I get the feeling that whoever has Aden Grey Crystal may not be aware what they are sat on (assuming he is being riden)
If this sparks any memories within anyone I would love to speak to you about them.
All the best, Luke |
