Posted - 05 Mar 2011 : 5:21:56 PM Having ridden my gelding on Tuesday afternoon, on Wednesday his near fore was swollen and hot. Since then the swelling has come down considerably, just located halfway down the leg between knee and fetlock, also the heat has gone considerably, so much that having been out all day the leg is completely cold.
Any ideas as to what he might have done? He is not being ridden any longer, just out during the day and in at night.

Posted - 06 Mar 2011 : 5:00:32 PM Oh right, didnt think of that, I thought he'd finished with splints - had two on same leg! Its strange cos he's not lame either. Leg has been cold during the day consistently and only slightly warm overnight, but then his other front leg is warm overnight. So might just see how he goes for a couple of weeks, my vets usual advice for splints is 3 weeks rest then resume work. Was praying it wasnt/isnt something more serious .
Thank you Angela
