Posted - 30 Dec 2009 : 12:19:40 PM Well i think a lot depends on whether she has had a foal before and if so if she has ever had complications. Also if her uterus and ovaries are in good condition and functioning well (a vets scan will determine this). The oldest i have ever bred off a mare is 21yrs but she was fit and well (in fact she is still with me now aged 32yrs this march!) Being in foal can actually help some mares as pregnant mares naturally emit cortisone (the same ingrediant found in the cortiflex substances) and many old mares also have a new lease of life being a mum.
