I was very shocked and saddened this morning to hear on the news of his death. To me this man was a legend who i have followed over the years, i was lucky enough to attend the Glass Spider tour back in the 80,s which was fantastic, just so sad he has gone.

Michael Eavis on Points West last night said that he (David Bowie) was one of the three greatest performers ever. The other Two? Elvis and Frank Sinatra.

Pasch i felt the same this morning. My OH saw him twice the first time before he was in The Spiders. One of his songs which always makes me smile is The Laughing Gnome, always brings a smile to my face.

Very sad - I had the good fortune to pass him by on a street in London decades ago, and asked for his autograph, which I still treasure. I was impressed by how nice he was about it. This was before he changed his name from Jones to Bowie, so shows you how long ago that was.

I am shocked and heartbroken,he has always been my idol and my favourite singer and like Goldenmane I thought he was going to last forever…I had the chance to see him live twice and know most of his songs by heart.I heard the news this morning as I drove to the station to take a train and almost cried,it is as if a relative or close friend has died.I didn't know he was battling cancer and was looking forward to buy his latest album which I sadly did today.

So sad. True superstar. How dignified are his family at this time? A fitting tribute.

A great loss of a huge talent and I think a very kind and possitive influence on how we embrace difference. He certainly pushed the boundaries that we now accept and welcome.
So very sad just 2 days after his birthday, Elvis and Shirley Bassey both born 8 Jan as well.
Me too however happy they got all the talent available on that day.

So glad you have put this. I saw him many times from the age of 16 when he brought out Black Country Rock, John I'm only dancing....through to Ziggy, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, I could go on. For some reason I thought he would last for ever. The first thing my new foster children watch when they come into my house is Labyrinth, so we can laugh and dance, he was a great actor as well. Very sad day for many people. But as he, and my dog (named Boogie) said from Starman..'Let the children boogie.'
(And my naughty little pony is called Ziggy Stardust, but does not play guitar, just eats the grass.)
