I hope everybody had a lovely christmas and enjoyed themselves, we had a quiet one as our water pipes burst the week before christmas, we are on spring water and in trying to fix one burst they damaged the sludge valve so we ended up with hardly any water pressure, plenty of running water just not in our house. Our garden path is all dug up and the digger is stuck in our garden at min as the tracks come off. We got a specialist in as the plumber and workmen digging the pipes up couldn,t come up with a solution , they have been today and fixed one leak and are going to try and bung up the leak on the sludge valve, there is mud everywhere and my beautiful garden is a bombsite but at least once the water builds back up in our tank on the moor top we will not feel guilty flushing the loo. This meant we didn,t dare invite anybody in case water ran out completely , god bless the workmen who have been out until christmas eve trying to help us, things are now on the up.We had a quiet christmas just the two of us to share our turkey dinner but with 3 dogs and 2 cats it will not be wasted, santa was also very kind to us , there seemed to be alcohol and thermal underware theme to our presents this year For once we have spent christmas praying it kept raining for our water tank but it can stop now . Hope everybody had a lovely christmas and looking forward to

Sounds like we all need a holiday to recover from christmas . I found my 2yrs filly on boxing day with what we think is an abscess, must be that time of year , carry on poulticing everybody

Feel rather embarrassed after hearing so many travails - but apart from having to medicate a mare with an absess in her foot, (ongoing treatment), had a lovely Christmas. At least didn't pressure-cook the sprouts three times as have done before due to too much 'tipple'!

Mine wasnt bad. They arent as good as they used to be when we still lived on the farm and the neds were out the back door. I slept for half the day as I was working a nightshift on christmas eve :-( Only 2 of the guys in the hostel were out of it but they werent causing any trouble, just the usual, pulling lead off the roof! (4 storeys up might I add). Went up to stables and dealt with storms abscess, down to my mums for dinner then over to my sisters to hand out prezzies. My presents went down a treat with my teenage niece and nephew (im officially the cool aunt vik!). Could of stayed for a few drinks but the nightshift 'jet lag' was catching up with me so it was an early night.

Lovely Christmas here too - lots of family round - everyone from 8 weeks to 80! Some interesting juggling feeding horses (10) people (11) as well as chooks, dogs and sheep - not to mention a vicar of dibley moment when we rocked up to the Christingle service on Christmas Eve as they finished the first carol - wouldn't have been so bad had I not been meant to be in the choir!!
Looking forward to a first ride tomorrow since delivering Christmas cards the day before Christmas eve-though of course it's now blowing a gale outside!

We had a manic christmas with our 3 little girls, they hadn't slept properly for nearly a week previous to the big day as they were so excited which meant we were quite frazzled when the day finally dawned!!
We didn't do gifts for each other as had quite enough to buy for the children but i had an unexpected one which was by far my best present! I went round to our local farmer Stephen to pay him for a big round bale of haylage and take him a card and a bottle to say thanks for always delivering and being there for us and he took the card and bottle and gave me a card and told me to put my money away!!! What a fab present
Christmas dinner was cooked by me and when all layed out on the table looked amazing unfortunately the soundtrack of screaming baby put a bit of a dampner on it for me but she soon perked up with an addition of a chocolate biscuit to go with her roast potato! I was passed caring by that point!!
We are having a child free night tonight (only the 2nd time in 16 months!!) and are celebrating with an absolute bargain from M+S of a side of salmon for 50p (hubby works there!) and a bottle of wine

Ours was nothing like as stressful as yours (We used to live in a place with a gravity fed well which went dry every autumn for a couple of months so I have an idea of your troubles ). We had a houseful for Christmas but now everyone has gone, and this afternoon my husband went as well - to Brazil for work for a month, so I can now relax, watch what I want on tv, start bringing filthy horse stuff home to wash and go out for rides and come home covered in mud without any raised eyebrows - hurrah! And loads of leftover Christmas food so I don't have to cook either
