Posted - 23 Dec 2011 : 8:46:41 PM my daughter's father in law died today, in the most horrific circumstances.he was cutting logs with his chainsaw when he slipped, fell on the chainsaw and cut his neck, bleeding to death before the ambulance arrived. Horrifically this all happened before his wife and his 13 year old daughter... Her hubby is distraught, I have their son, and I think I will have all the horses to care for over Christmas.. Just makes you think.. however much I complain, how lucky am I? RIP. |

Posted - 31 Dec 2011 : 09:19:23 AM The vile behaviour of certain sections of the media has been exposed over the last year with the phone hacking inquiry etc. As for what people post online, there are some seriously twisted people who are now able to write what they like, usually hiding behind anonymity - the dark side of the internet. I sincerely hope that your friends do not look at any of this stuff and I feel so sorry for them.

Posted - 31 Dec 2011 : 08:48:47 AM well, it has finally made the search engines and the national press. There are some horrible comments and rumors flying around. I can assure you all that it was a vile, freak and shocking accident, not suicide. They were a loving family and looking forwards to Christmas Sometimes I despair about humanity. His wife and daughter are being supported by their immediate family, and he also had 2 other children (grown ups) from a previous relationship. I can't imagine how distressed they are when they read the hurtful comments. |

Posted - 24 Dec 2011 : 1:07:43 PM Very sad and tragic, my thoughts are with his family at this sad time. What an awful thing for his family to witness, i hope they are going to be ok. I use our chainsaw but only in bone dry calm weather and i only cut dry wood , i have all the safety gear but sadly accidents do happen, they are very dangerous things , even with safety gear on i am sure an accident like this could not be prevented. |

Posted - 24 Dec 2011 : 04:19:46 AM I think they do have some safety devise, this one was petrol driven, but realistically they are not going to stop fast enough. Especially with our outdoor hobby, the need to trim back hedges, repair fencing etc leads us to use dangerous equipment. It is important not to become complacent, especially in icy or wet conditions which may cause slips |

Posted - 23 Dec 2011 : 10:46:35 PM What a horrible thing to happen!I also think chainsaws should have some sort of security thing so they go off if you are not holding them, like a button you have to keep pressed for it to function...Condolences |
