male staff X german shepherd dog FREE TO GOOD HOME! must be collected by friday but could poss deliver. He is neutered, partly lead trained tho he does pull if u dont have firm voice, toilet trained, brill with kids but barks at cats! lol. no timewasters please as if not rehomed by fri then has to go to pound as charities/rescue centres are full
Further digging into the situation reveals that the owner is disabled and not able to exercise the dog as much as it needs. It has become noisy and barks a lot at night - which has lead to complaints - which has lead to the council giving the owner until Friday to rehome the dog or it will go to the pound. They have been issued with a noise abatement notice!
Advert was posted by owners daughter - she can't take the dog on as she has a 2 bed flat with 3 children and a "no pets" policy from her landlord.
Just wondered if anyone on here might be able to help.
The dog is in East Sussex. |

Posted - 25 Dec 2011 : 10:19:30 PM Sub they have to prove a case, of course in the instance of a massive party they can serve notice, but that would not be done for an isolated dog barking, not even if it was just for a couple of times.
Just to add to this, on Christmas Eve at 4:15 a woman rang in asking if the dog warden would pick up a stray - which they had found a couple of weeks ago, and would he hurry up as they were going out. That gave us not very long indeed, and the dog warden was sent out, he had his scanner with him, but there is a strong possibility that this dog has spent Christmas in the Shelter. We all frantically revisited recent reports of lost dogs, against the description that the "finder" gave, but we found nothing similar (however I have known very inaccurate descriptions) just hope that the dog is chipped and the owner can be traced. Fancy keeping her that long, without reporting it another Staffy cross as well. |

Posted - 25 Dec 2011 : 8:09:27 PM Not always - In this area, they are handed out immediately if a member of the noise team hears it first hand. Maily for parties etc... but possible under other circumnstances too.
I can only go by what has been posted on the other website. The lady in question has only been in her property for a month.
She has been given a repreave until the 12th January when Battersea can take the dog - however, she is now really worried as other people have posted that Battersea will put the dog down. |

Posted - 24 Dec 2011 : 08:14:12 AM I can assure you all that it takes a very long time to get to the stage of a noise abatement order. Firstly there will have been a letter sent out, informing the owner that their dog is causing a nucience, then, if this does nothing the complainant will have filled in diary sheets, over a period of time detailing when the do is barking, and a visit from the council to see if there is a particular problem that can be addressed. If this does not work then there will have been monitoring done with sound equipment at the nearest noise sensitive premises (usually the complainant) which will have been listened to and deemed a nuisance. The owner will have then been told about this evidence and given the opportunity to act. Councils know that all dogs bark from time to time, it is not that, the complaints we get are sometimes tit or tat, but often from equally vulnerable people who are denied sleep etc.not just on one occasion, but night after night. It is not easy when you are put in the position of protecting the rights of the public. I really hope that this dog finds a home where his needs are met. I see it all the time and to be honest I have taken a few home myself. |

Posted - 23 Dec 2011 : 09:14:14 AM Oh dear where is my reply gone? must have done something wrong. OK, here we go again. Just spoke to a friend of mine who helps a lot with rehoming etc. - she will ask around and out it on her facebook site, I put it on my. The other thing she suggested is Dogs Trust - they never put a healthy dog down, there must be one in the area. Wish we could help, but just not possible. Aren't there a couple of people on here who run kennels, can't they take him till something else is sorted? Come on people we must be able to find a solution.

Posted - 23 Dec 2011 : 12:08:34 AM I am more than happy to donate to help this boy in the short term - please let me know who to send the money to. I cannot offer him a home due to my job, otherwise I would take him. |

Posted - 22 Dec 2011 : 9:17:12 PM I'm nowhere near, and don't know anyone who is! If there are enough people who care to help with fees could it be put into kennels until 12th Jan? Is there a local kennel which could help? I could make a small donation to kennel costs if something can be done (just don't tell OH lol).
Such a small length of time for the chance life. |

Posted - 22 Dec 2011 : 2:06:53 PM This dog will be euthanased if it is not homed this week. Really sad. The pound will only keep him for 7 days - then they will PTS.
The owner has managed to secure a place at Battersea for him, but they can't take him until the 12th January - the council still want the dog out of the house by tomorrow - they won't accept that there is no where for it to go. I can't take it as hubby is allergic - and I've got a new born baby to keep me occupied. |

Posted - 21 Dec 2011 : 9:51:48 PM This makes me angry on so many levels! Poor dog, poor owner who is probably distraught! Where is the compassion in society? Surely someone could have done something more constructive than continuous complaints! Could a charity not have organised some help in dog-walking? There are so many animal lovers around, maybe someone not working might have been able to help. Sadly, now the jobs-worths are involved and the enforcement notice issued it is probably too late to try and set up help except for rehoming.
Really wish I could help, but just not in a position to take any more house pets! I hope someone is in a position to help though. |
