Posted - 21 Dec 2011 : 10:03:52 AM Went to buy a real Christmas tree but now 50 pounds so I looked in my garden and pruned a 7 foot branch from my fir tree, decorated it with lights and donated money to charity. (My family have decided I am now eccentric.) I think I'm non-materialistic.

Posted - 20 Dec 2011 : 08:14:38 AM I so agree with you FullCircle, was saying just the same thing at weekend. It must be so much easier with christmas in summer. More daylight, less mud, better health (no colds etc) the list goes on and on. We do have a proper tree this year, not had one for a couple of years, cards I just can't seem to be bothered with. My dog loves christmas and is now my child substitute now son grown up! |

Posted - 20 Dec 2011 : 06:43:25 AM Hubby put up the tree on Saturday. I made a half hearted attempt at decorating on Sunday. I got bored about halfway through and the boxes are still scattered around the lounge waiting for me to finish sorting through what I want up and put the rest away. I intended to do it last night but fell asleep sharp (8pm). This time of year is physically hard as it's a busy ol' time at work. Why can't Christmas happen in the summer, like it does in the Southern Hemisphere |

Posted - 19 Dec 2011 : 5:23:57 PM That's okay then, I'm in good compamy. I havent sent cards or bought presents for several years now. I might put the tree up later this week, so i'll tell everyone it is the German way not me being idle. Thanks for thet gem Gabi and Doug. Anyway, I am not sure how Poppy is going to get on with the tree!!!!she thinks she is a cat and is often found on the sideboard or the dining table. |

Posted - 19 Dec 2011 : 3:40:53 PM Gabi and I have opted out again this year, no cards, no pressies , no money. We will be having a few good meals and the odd mince pie or three (lids off soaked in brandy with cream) we will put up a tree at the last minute , like they do in Germany. Probably have a big meal xmas eve ( Heiliger Abend ), that's also when all the animals will get pressies. they deserve them. |
