This is awful, when the dog been torn apart was put on facebook i commented that this was another reason hunting should be banned , i got a few pm,s saying hunting was legal and law abiding and the boys and dog were on trespassing , sorry but how in the world can they support peoples pet animals been torn apart, what if it was their cat or dog, there are other ways to control foxes, if one is a killer then it is far kinder to get somebody in to shoot the fox, this way they can lie in wait for the fox and then they know its the right fox.By choice i would rather not kill anything but i have seen the damage a fox did to my friends lambs, they got a chap in and with one shot killed the fox and have not had problems since. This surely cannot continue.

Again! Truly awful .....

We all know that no hunts are observing the ban. They never had any intention of it, but they are all people who think others should obey the law...

Today the Heythrop Hunt was out near Deddington in north Oxfordshire and the hounds tore apart a pet cat. It really is time this outdated bloodsport is stopped for good.

RIP Pip and I hope the poor little boys aren't too troubled by it any longer. What an awful thing for anyone to witness let alone young eyes.

It is illegal to hunt any animal with dogs Pasch--not that it makes any indifference. These arrogant ...hunters ( since I can't swear on here)... believe they are above the law. As indeed they appear to be--can you imagine the outcry if this had been a group of pit bulls or staffies that did this. Hundreds of " pit bull types" have been seized and destroyed, and their owners prosecuted, who have been totally innocent, but simply look a certain way-- if they were to do this the media would have a feeding frenzy.
Yes, Ennik, incidents like this are very frequent, but not reported in the mainstream media that often. A pack of dogs who have been born and bred to hunt and kill is very dangerous, and often get out of control, killing indiscriminately.

Not the first incident like this I've heard off. If the hunt's around we know to keep our dogs in. Better to be aware ......

It says in the article they are harriers, I think they hunt hares rather than foxes? Which leads to another question - why in the world would you want to hunt a hare?

Poor dog and poor kids.

Actually if you google the hunt you would find this is not the first time.

I think I was more shocked by the feeling that it was a case of - oh well, that ones dead, here's another, problem sorted. Perhaps I read it wrong, with my 'sharp' hat on.

Oh God thats so awful. And they were just out on an innocent days drag hunting, yeah right!!! If they couldnt even get the hounds off a family pet whos going to believe they would bother trying to get them off a fox if they came across one.
That poor family, can you imagine seeing that when you were a kid
