I'll start with ...

Always insert contact lenses prior to cleaning teeth to avoid toothpaste residue transference to lenses. In the event this happens, immediate action is required: open mouth and yell as loud as possible whilst dancing on the spot.

, When you want to type mince pies, make sure you include the 'N', otherwise it will say 'mice pies'. I meant mince pies, or did I? JRT says she will go with the mice pies.
Pop Posted - 08 Dec 2011 : 1:56:09 PM
Ah Ha, cooking

Make sure when leaving the supermarket the bag holding the mice pies doesnt split?
sab2 Posted - 08 Dec 2011 : 12:27:14 PM
Always make sure when getting a very hot sweet mince pie out of the oven you use oven close, and if like me you don,t please make sure the cream is near at hand to stick your burnt fingers into otherwise you end up with 3 blistered throbbing fingers .

Never expect the expected, expect that things will be quite difference than how they have been before and you have come to expect.

October 2011
Mats - "you ever try to shutting that stable door with me inside and I'll show you how to make firewood out of a stable, got it!"

Me "OK, what we will do it leave it open and let you have a small corral so that you can go in and out as you please, is that a good compromise?"

Mats "You can try that if you like and I will push your fencing down, do swishy heads, scowl and be generally very very grumpy indeed; and if you let any human near me I will show them my teeths".

November 2011 - Mornings
Me "Mats please go out, have a run around, eat lovely grass"

Mats "Nope, staying in my "suite".

Me "Please Mats, go play with your friends"

Mats "Nope, and anyway, they are not my friends, they are my servants, as are you".

Me - repeat begging, continued failure, go round back, lean against bum and push.

Mats - looks round at me and sighs.

November 2011 - Evenings
Mats - "Yo, human, get your a**e over here and let me in before your fencing is firewood. Have you cleaned my 'suite'? Hurry, Let me in, let me in (Doing major swishy snake heads)"

Me "Coming Mats"

I'm confused. Flat refusal to stay in, now flat refusal to go out. I'm a slave.

but he is now 13 ----but still a delight!
Vik1 Posted - 27 Nov 2011 : 12:36:51 PM
Arabianrio I can totally relate to all of that with my 2yo!

My tip with regards to toothpaste is..do not wipe your mouth afterwards with a towel and then use towel to dry your face...I have discovered your eyes can feel minty fresh..a very weird sensation!
arabianrio Posted - 27 Nov 2011 : 12:01:35 PM
Slightly different but costly lessons learnt since having new boy:
1 Don't leave ANYTHING hanging up, leaning near or by the stable door.- it will be moved and DESTROYED eg headcollar, bridle, lead rope, brooms, bags of bedding.
2 Don't leave ANYTHING hanging up,or on shelving too near the inside half closed tack room stable door- it will be moved (ie picked up and DESTROYED eg
First aid box....various rugs, OUR BEST EXPENSIVE SMOKER..(picked up by its cover and flung across the floor)

3. When you tie him up with a quick release knot - he WILL chew the rope and knot and he WILL escape.

4.Don't throw rugs/towels, cloths numnahs etc. over stable door (however short the period) they will be removed (and DESTROYED).

Having used my stables for three different horses at various times in my life - never has life been so interesting or as frustrating as with our Laddie methinks we have a giraffe!!!

Pop,I just LOVE your sense of humour!!
Pop Posted - 27 Nov 2011 : 07:26:27 AM
Never ever trust a haynet. They may look innocent enough just sitting quietly on the floor. They are not innocent. They are gutter snipes crossed with snakes. They are not slumbering, they are awaiting their moment to bring you to the ground; and they do know where the mud is.

Barbara, do you have to dislocate and fracture a shoulder to have a toy boy? Do you think it would OK to get one anyway? How much do they cost? How do you train them? What if they have acne? Would you just treat that like mud fever?

Barbara an octopus would br very handy for both of us at the min, do you know where we can get one and just think we have it to look forward to again tomorrow
barbara.gregory Posted - 25 Nov 2011 : 5:29:53 PM
Don't dislocate and fracture a shoulder (or arm, leg, etc) without making sure that you have lots of people just dying to help with your horses. If you must do it, make sure it is in the summer when you don't need to bring the horses in. And a toy boy would be useful in case your husband/partner is away due to work commitments so you really are on your own.

It is handy to have a friendly octopus when poulticing a youngster.

I learnt one tonight, always make sure when poulticing a youngster on your own to make sure you have plenty of spare poultice and hot water so that when the first and second ones get dropped on the floor when youngster jumps about you have another one , by choice it is always better to have a spare pair of hands and works out much cheaper in the long run

Unwanted hair removal cream is not a suitable alternative to toothpaste
Callisto Posted - 25 Nov 2011 : 1:39:04 PM
Never confuse the bottle of baby oil with the bottle of baby shampoo - it takes days to get the baby oil out of your hair and it is not a good look!!! (Particularly when you have applied more because you couldn't get the first dose to lather )
Libby Frost Posted - 25 Nov 2011 : 1:27:06 PM
When getting up early allways put the light on before reaching for the nearest aerosol can - spraying it under your armpits - then realizing its Raljex!! ( me mum on our way out the door early for a horse show!)
