After all that worry and excuse making to go for my second interview today...............I didn't get the job!! The reason?

I was overly qualified and they couldn't afford to pay me what I was worth!! How does that work?! I can't figure out why they even invited me for the interviews if that was the case. I'm disappointed obviously, but I guess at least I must be worth more than I thought! Or maybe they were trying to let me down gently!!

Hmm.......Just sourcing a twin needle machine at the moment! Also need to persuade my OH to vacate the garage short term, so that I can set it up in there.

I know exactly what you mean about rug fitting Pop. I did develope an eye for the measurements not being quite right either, as sometimes what I had been given just didnn't match the horses description and work load (all very relavent!). I'll let you know how I progress.

Wow Qui, I was thinking of doing that last year but could not find a manufacturer, the idea is a bit like shoes, you get them in size and width but not so rugs, you have to do the width thing by trial and error e.g. if you have two ponies who measure 5'9", mostly, the same rug doesnt fit both. And often, the neck is either too small or too big. I bought a Boet type rug and the supplier asked for all the measurements, girth, neck, etc, it was a fantastic fit and well worth the money. If I were you, I would go for it. Still looking for someone to make another horse product if you are interested?

Thanks Pop! I never thought of that. I'll just keep looking, or perhaps I should start making horse rugs again! I've still got all my patterns and contacts for fabrics etc. I used to work for a company years ago that sadly went bust (the boss was taking money out of the business and not putting any back in!). The rugs were my husband and I's design and very popular with the English market as well as in Scotland. We specialised in made to measure at no extra charge to the customer and the rugs were made from the same fabric as both Fal and Horseware. In fact I've got some of these rugs that I made 10 years ago that are still going strong!!

Don't let it get you down, someone (probably the Manager) felt threatened that you could do a better job than him/her; that happens. Whereas the really good manager would not be threatened and would use your skills to benefit all.

Oh thats a shame, keep looking am sure you will find your perfect job soon

There was no wage level indicated in the advert, it just said wage subject to experience!! When I applied I had to send my cv along with a covering letter to let them know of my current wage level, so they surely knew that they would have to at least equal if not better what I am currently on.

They were very apologetic and said that were delighted to have met me and that if they were looking for a Manager, then I'd have been unbeatable. They felt that the roll on offer would have been a step down for me! The fact they had advertised for an Equine supervisor, seems a bit strange. Oh well their loss! Back to the drawing board, I guess.

I f you are over qualified you could probably do the job better and be more productive than a cheaper alternative. Ring them back and opoint that out!
LYNDILOU Posted - 18 Jan 2010 : 5:16:18 PM
that is often used to let people down gently although I am sure this is not the case with you, didnt they give an indication of the wage before the interview?
moatside Posted - 18 Jan 2010 : 5:11:41 PM
Never mind! They obviously don't deserve you

I agree - why invite you back for a second interview - surely if you are over qualified today you must have been over qualified when you went for the first interview??
