I've been looking after a little hedgehog, we found him waddling down the road daytime, they are nocturnal so he should have been asleep. Rang RSPCA at 8pm for advice tonight as became concerned about breathing and on closer inspection it looked like he had one eye. RSPCA were here an hour later. Have taken Waddle, as we called him, but she assured me if she thought he had'nt a chance she would have had him PTS with me there as was my request. So, thank you RSPCA and I can't believe I'm crying over my little hedgehog. Hope he makes it.

Well done Goldenmane

Any update from the RSPCA?

My OH found one kate at night around October time some years back. There was a late spell of hot weather that fooled nature, so some animals were able to have a late litter. Most are not expected to survive the winter when this happens. Anyway, we krpt him indoors for the winter and put him in the garden the follwoing spring. He, or an imposter, stayed around for a number of years. They are lovely when they don't have tics and fleas, some say a bit like me

Oh bless him. Keeping fingers crossed for the p r i c k l y man....(edited as ***'d out! lol)

I know how you feel.... I heard a squealing the other day and I thought I had better check the noise out. There was a tiny baby rabbit that had been hit in our lane and a crow was trying to eat it alive. I ran and picked it up but it had myxi and was in a terrible state. I put it out of it's misery and was absolutely in tears for the little one, but I had to end it's suffering quickly.

I think the local rabbit population know that I will end their suffering, I get them coming into our drive when they are at deaths door.

On a lighter note, I was driving along a busy road and saw something running along the kerb side. I stopped the traffic and jumped out and picked it up. It was a day old Pheasant chick! Brought it home and tried to put it under my broody hen but she didn't like him jumping on her back so I had to take it to our local "bird" woman. He is about 3 weeks old now and causing havoc

Keep up the good work, our little wildlife friends need our help
