ROSELAND 2003 42KM
LAPWORTH
ARABIAN STUD
Bu was born of the 17th April 1984. He is by Fane (Haroun-Mikoletta)
out of Royal Fiesta (Fari 11-Rondetta) He is predominately
Crabbet and stands 15 hands. He started his in hand
career as a yearling with a few county shows being placed
at each one but it wasn’t until a 3 year old that
we progressed to the Nationals where he was 3rd in the
junior geldings. He was then broken and went on to win
numerous county shows as a four year old and many ridden
championships.

First year at the Nationals under saddle in the Novice
where Bu was second
As a five year old he won the Nationals under saddle
and also came 2nd in hand and we won the coverted Sam
Simonds award for the small stud owner. The next year
he won the young riders at the Nationals with Robert
Lowe as well as coming 2nd under saddle at the same
show. I think it was also this year that Joanne Lowe
took him to the Royal International and was 3rd. I remember
it well as she had difficulty getting her long boots
on, we were pulling and pulling and eventually hey presto
they were on and zoomed into the collecting ring for
a quick warm up.

Bu as a yearling at his first show under Annette Hedley.
In
1992 he continued his winning strike and ended the season
with a win at Towerlands International in the ridden gelding.
In 1993 we took him to the Royal Show under saddle. There
were 22 in the class and he was initially called in 6th.
After his gallop I had a very good feeling he would be
further up the line. Well what a surprise when he won
beating the illustrious Liquidamber with Caroline Nelson.
What an achievement for him and me.
In 1994 his main win was Haydock Park being Ridden Reserve
Champion to Abu Dhabi with Joanne Woodward. I can still
remember the pouring rain and my top hat being covered
until I entered the ring. Wendy Carr removed the plastic
for me in the collecting ring.
In 1995 we again won the Nationals in hand and in 1996
we won the pairs at the Nationals with Ann Green on Khalif.

WINNING 3 COUNTIES IN 1998
In 1998 he was still going strong winning classes under
saddle as well as The 3 Counties in hand.

WINNING THE NATIONALS IN 2003

In
2000 he became a veteran (16) and won several veteran
classes as well as the Nationals in hand and 4th under
saddle.
I thought now was the time to retire him from the show
ring, but he still wanted to do something and I decided
to join the Endurance Society and do several pleasure
rides. He loved it so much that I did my first competitive
ride in October 2001 at Goodwood - 34km and passed. Well
we were both hooked and when the season started in 2002
decided to fast track through novice to intermediate.
He found this quite easy completing over 400km.

COMPETING FOR THE HEART OF ENGLAND TEAM AT LINDUM SPIRIT
2003
2ND IN THE 65KM
In
2003 he became advanced and represented the Heart of England
Group at Lindum in the 65km and coming 2nd for the team.
The week after this he went to the Nationals and won the
Veteran class.
It is now the start of the 2004 season and although Bu
is now 20 years old he is raring to go. He has been my
inspiration to keep riding and competing; hopefully he
will go on for many more years and still give me the excitement
I have experienced over these fantastic seasons.
