Vidas
Arabian Stud began with ...Vidas (Estasan ibn Estope
x Princess Ahriza) eighteen years ago, back in 1987.
Known to his friends as simply "TC" anyone
who knows him or has met him will always remember him
as the striking white stallion, with big movement, large
liquidy eyes and the manners of a gentleman.
He was bred by Brian Blake and was not originally for sale as Brian
had wanted to keep him. Russell was to buy another colt by Estasan
that Brian had bred, but tragically this one died before weaning
and Brian therefore relented and let Russell have Vidas.........
the story begins...
The main aim with TC was in the first years to qualify him. TC however
had other plans....he had inherited his fathers "naughty attitude" in
the ring. Brian tried .. and tried, but it was Russell that eventually
qualified him at Haydock in 1991. He covered his first mare, Somrah
in 1990 and they had the exquisite filly Sari bint Vidas. He then
went on to be backed and broken, and after a spell in Wales with
Steven and Malcolm, he came home to be ridden by me. TC was a feisty
ride and his first attempt at a ridden show was such a disaster that
I decided that hack and chill out was the best move forward......so
that is what he did for the next 8 years!!!!!!!!

In
1998 Rosedew (Silver Scenario x Rosalba) found us. I
had, at the time, a passion for black Arabians and it
was this passion that lead me to Annie Hawke. She allowed
us to purchase the beautiful Rosedew - and at the ripe
old age of 13 she was backed and became our very first
riding/brood mare. Shortly after this, by chance, we
went on to purchase the very spectacular black Milhanger
Ptolemy (AK Sirhalima x Tanye Rama) who taught me alot
about life, and lead me to healing ... and eventually
my Reiki Mastership. It is through this very special Arabian
that I have gone on to heal and teach many owners and
horses the wonders of Reiki healing.
Russell
sent Rosedew to R Ali Bey for my birthday in 2002 ......after
finding Ptolemy his perfect home, my passion for blacks
had not wavered and Rosedew gave us a wonderful dark
bay filly - VAS Sahara Bey in 2003.

Congratulations
to Lynn Taurah on the purchase of VAS
Sahara last year
Lynn
will be showing her this year.

It
was in the year of 2002 that I ventured the ridden show
ring again with TC . We won and qualified BAC his 2nd
show out that year.. and that was it....we were hooked!!!!
Unfortunately fate had other plans for us and we never
made BAC - he strained a tendon later that year and had
to have an operation. We were given a 60% chance of ever
being able to ride him properly again . After numerous
attempts at rest, ride, rest, ride over the course of
a few years.. we were then hit by a fast car and both
of our confidence went to pieces.
It
was then that a friend kicked us into the inhand ring...TC
hadn't been there since he was five and I never had .
I hated every minute of it...I had no control from the
floor and couldn't stand him up to save my life...added
to the fact that he had this "reputation" for
being a handful in the ring.....great combination!!!!!
However, he showed me all I needed to know, and we did
extremely well - years of pleasure rides had given him
a "5th gear" in trot that he was all too
happy to show the crowds, when I could keep up with
him!!!!!

In
2002 we found the very demanding FH Ibn Dageegah (Maysoun
x Dageegah) (or should I say that he found us) Renowned
for his "Maysoun be trotting but don't hold your
breath" in the ring this very stunning stallion
has now been backed and has successfully covered
his first mare - Rosedew. She is due 2006 - the foal
has
already been sold.

In
our continuous search for a riding horse to replace TC,
last year we came across a beautiful little grey mare
- Aliya bint misk Tarifa (G Halim Sharib x Misk Tarifa)
I spent the next year riding her despite everyone's attempts
to talk us into putting her into foal!!!!!!
|
 |
At
the same time, Russell decided to look at a mare that
Lynda Free had advertised for sale - Ross Estamalika
(Ibn Estasha x Rosseeta) , to be sold in foal for 2004
to WSA Charismma. We went to see her....and Russell
fell in love with her.
I however, had different ideas as she had the most beautiful soft
bay filly at foot that I had seen in a very long time - Wasama
bint Malika (WSA Charismma x Ross Estamalika).
However,
Wasama was most definitely not for sale, so we purchased
Malika in the hope that she threw us something very
similar.

In
May 2004 VAS Rafiq was born - a grey colt, with type,
character, beauty and that wonderful softness that had
drawn me to his sister. We sent Rosedew down to WSA Charismma
to foal 2005 and the beautiful Wasama was still there,
I told Lynda that one day I would be back for her, but
she was sadly for me still not for sale

VAS
Rafiq - (yearling colt) very affectionately known as
Squishy to all who meet him. We bought Malika infoal
to Chrimbo and this is the result.
Squishy
is a character that oozes pressence and love. He
has the most fantastic temperament I have ever met
to date in a colt, and will be a credit to his father
when he begins his show career.
|
WSA Charismma. x Rosedew
( Crown Prince Charismma could possibly be for sale to
the right home )
|
|
 |
Wasama
bint Malika (2 years old)
WSA Charismma (US) x Ross Estamalika
Affectionately known as Wiz Bang. When I first saw this filly I fell
in love with her. She was not for sale and after nearly a year of
constant pestering Lynda finally gave in and we bought her home.
|
|
After
months of hassling Lynda, she reluctantly relented
and let Wasasma come and live with us.She
is every bit as loving as she is beautiful, she will
be shown in hand this year for the first time ever
.........!
We also purchased
a wonderful little filly from Sue and Emyrs Jones
at their open day last August - Psynderella (Psynergy x
Lyanka)
and she came to live with us for Christmas!
Malika
and Aliya went down to WSA Charismma to be covered for
2006
because you can never have too much of a good thing!
and Rosedew had a beautiful strapping colt by Chrimbo in
January
this year. There we have it....... "Vidas Arabian
Stud"
|
As
for Vidas, well, all good things come to those who
wait. I got back on again earlier this year and we
are still
going strong under saddle!!!!
He
taught me how to ride Arabians with respect and when
he could no longer
do that he taught me how
to show in hand and have fun no matter where we
came....... above all he taught me that you just can't
replace
some riding partnerships no matter how hard you
try, and when I finally realised that and had given
up
trying, he was there waiting for me.
|
 |
|
He
has taught me that not all stallions scream and stamp
and
bite, some are loyal, kind , affectionate and loving
and
would do anything just to raise a smile on their
owners face.
Vidas
to me is a very true credit to his breed. Who knows maybe
we will make it to the veteran stallion
classes under saddle, but if we don't it doesn't matter......as
long as he is still with us, then that to me is just..perfect!
