An amazing performance by Horizon on his debut, losing a few lengths at the start and again when chopped on the home turn when making a forward move and losing momentum.Despite these setbacks his rider always looked confident and was always holding the renewed challenge of the runner up in the final furlong, winning a shade cheekily in a time faster than in the 0-70 later in the card.. Benha gained many admirers in defeat, going clear from 2f out and ,looking round for dangers, was unlucky enough to find a hotpot in the race cruising up to him on the bridle. The official distance to the third was 15l but it was 7 seconds before Cassariah crossed the line in third, equal to almost half a furlong.Of the others , Rasma was right there with 2f to run but found nothing whilst Princess Eos and Guisburn Szaleem will be better for the experience.

Spring Psalm led until the 3f pole when Sugar Dandy took over and soon went clear ,ridden out to the line and half a furlong in front of the others. The official distance was 12l but 25l is not an exaggeration.Chiloe ran on past beaten horse to take a respectful second.Spring Harmony was never going well and may not have liked the conditions.

MIDNIGHT CALL

Time: 1m 52

Pride of James whipped round at the start and lost the best part of a furlong. He then ran the race of his life to finish within 16 lengths of the winner. He must have won or gone close if he had got off on level terms. His form earlier in the season when beating Sugar Dandy is looking better and better and even his defeat last time behind Tamagotchi looks good now that four of the beaten horses have won since. Midnight Call ran right up to his handicap mark benefitting from the soft ground.Special FX ran well off automatic top weight and was still tracking the winner entering the straight before the weight told. Kelway Crimson Sky possibly needed the run after an absence of two years and wouldn’t have liked the ground.Romany Dream ran a fair race without threatening to win.Hardtoback was held up to get the trip and put up a gutsy performance to take 2nd place although the winner Inspector Morse, led throughout and never looked in much danger.

Everything went right for Island Rover who was always in the right position and was ridden to go past the long time leader Floriferouz inside the final furlong. Ibn Munir found this sharp 6f too quick and was being scrubbed along to hold second place from 3f out .He did well to hold third place and can pick up a race when upped in trip. Starinsky ran her best race of the season and is another who may win over a longer trip.Floral Dancer was said to dislike the ground but came through beaten horses to be nearest at the finish. Her form when beating Benha reads a lot better after today’s results. Island Star ran a fair race without threatening the leaders but the others were never in the race and couldn’t quicken in the soft ground.
