Time 2m 09sec

Betting 1-2 WFA Whirlwind, 9/4 Hamac, 4/1 Babuska, 8/1 Elliot

Hamac was bustled along to set a strong pace and was soon 10 lengths clear. They never really got to him and his rider was just doing enough to keep him clear in the straight only riding him out seriously in the final furlong when he went away from the runner up.Babuska was close enough if good enough but she couldn’t be expected to do any better than she did.WFA Whirlwind was a big disappointment but had just been reshod before the race and may have had a problem.Elliot was beaten a similar distance last week and now qualifies for handicaps.

Betting 4/5 Spring Harmony, 6/4 Kiwi Passion, 3/1 Spring Psalm

Spring Psalm led and seemed to be going best of all entering the straight but was finally worn down by Spring Harmony who wasn’t hard ridden in the final furlong but who only just scraped home after Kiwi Passsion came from a long way back to be just too late. Spring Harmony was more or less just confirming earlier form but Kiwi Passion will probably improve for the experience.

Time 2m 59sec

Betting 1/1 WFA Prophecy, 7/4 Island Benedict, 3/1 Sakit Sura, 7/2 Drongo, 10/1 Martha Rivers

The winner WFA Prophecy led throughout and shook off the challenge of Sakit Sura in the straight her rider looking round for dangers several times. She looked much more like a racehorse today and has come on for this season’s experience. She won this easily and could improve quite a bit more. Sakit Sura has more second places than the England cricket team. He again found one too good but he won’t need to meet the winner again if he sticks to 0-40’s.He ran off 27 here but runs off 30 in future due to last week’s fine effort. Drongo came from miles back to take third close home whilst Island Benedict ran his race but wasn’t quite good enough at the weights.

Time 3m 30

Betting 1/1 Pavot Al Kyle, 11/10 Riverdance, 9/2 Gaynif, 8/1 Segovia Sunrise, 10/1 Ygnasio

An incident packed race, Pavot Al Kyle likes to dominate and soon went past the front running Ygnasio until being quickly pulled up 7f out. As he pulled off the track the rider of Gaynif followed him and took the wrong course. She may have been slightly impeded. That left Riverdance and two horses who were well out of the handicap and it was no surprise that she won with something in hand, always in command after her rivals departed and pushed out in the final furlong hands and heels. Segovia Sunrise was 9lbs out of the handicap and making his seasonal reapperance and wasn’t disgraces. Ygnasio had little chance at the weights and couldn’t be expected to be there at the finish.

Time 2m 44 sec

Betting 1/1 Rushing, 7/4 Sugar Dandy, 2/1 Romany Dream

Sugar Dandy took over the lead from Romany Dream 7f from home but couldn’t shake them off. He has run at every meeting this year and is as tough as they come but the last three runs have come in 15 days and he was below form on this occasion. Rushing took over 2f out and cruised quickly into a good lead being eased down in the final 100 yards. Romany Dream ran a fair race but clearly isn’t showing the same form as in 1999 when she reached a handicap mark of 114.

Betting 2/5 Horizon, 6/4 Dhorgaam

Dhorgaam led until the 2f pole when Horizon was sent about his business quickening clear in a few strides and winning as he liked. The winner was again impressive, carrying his tail almost vertically as if carrying a pennant into battle. It will be interesting to see him against the likes of Fayre Abi when he contests open handicaps. He shows enough speed for sprints but is bred to get a trip.

Time 1m 28sec

Betting 1/1 Island Rover, 5/4 Belle De Jour, 9/2 Starinsky, 5/1 Island Star, 10/1 Doraman

Belle De Jour is a nervous type but seemed better than usual on leaving the paddock and her poor showing here was a surprise as she was never in the race and found nothing when asked. Doraman has run three poor races since winning and never threatened. Starinsky was sweating profusely as she often does but ran another promising race without being quite good enough in this class. She will win a 0-40 soon. Island Rover ran his usual game race leading until tackled by the winner Island Star who was held up last and came with a smooth run to lead a furlong out.
