Riverdance was only the third best
backed horse in the betting ring but in the race she was always
travelling easily on the heels of the leaders and went to
the front over a furlong from home his rider looking round
for dangers.
It must have been a familiar sight
because the first three home here filled the same positions
at Warwick two weeks ago. Island Star was 9lbs better off
here but was beaten the same distance and Dhorgaam was 4lbs
better but was beaten an extra 2 ½ l. Dhorgaam has now finished
2nd thrice to the two most progressive horses of
the season Riverdance and Sabez.
Gaynif set the pace until overtaken
in the final quartermile. PHA Khamoun was well backed but
was a disappointment, beaten 3 furlongs out. Island Benedict
was 8lbs wrong at the weights and wasn`t disgraced. There
aren`t many suitable races left for him but he could win again
when racing off his proper handicap mark.
