RACE
SUMMARY |
Altayarah
and Babuska disputed the lead until Babuska had had enough
with 2 furlongs to run and Crusader Junior came up to be the
challenger. The Sarah Kelleway pair battled it out to the
line and it took all Simon Walker's strength to see Altayarah
home in front.

RACE
SUMMARY |
Island
Benedict tried to make all but was overtaken 3 furlongs out
by WFA Jehangir who came over to the stands rail. At the thoroughbred
meeting on Thursday the professional jockeys had also come
up the stands side, but today, all who tried that tactic were
beaten.
The
Widow Maker, running from 12lbs wrong in the weights, challenged
WFA Jehangir all the way up the straight but they were both
run out of it in the final furlong by Borago, who had stayed
in the middle of the track. Alifo also ran another good race
but could find no extra in the final furlong.

RACE
SUMMARY |
2
Miles on soft ground but the result was in doubt until they
crossed the line as Bold Midas held off the persistent challenge
of Rushing. A combination of the softish ground and the weight
gave Borealis a stiff task and the tactic of coming up the
stands rail probably made little difference. Rushing, by contrast
got onto the far rail and ran on well and his best form is
over 12 furlongs and further.
Artic
Fire ran well for a long way but was 13lbs wrong at the weights
whilst the others had impossible tasks.

RACE
SUMMARY |
Djemila
De Leyre had only to repeat the form of any of her last three
runs to blow even these good handicappers away but possibly
she had done enough for the season and she was 20 lbs below
form, leading for 4 furlongs when challenged. That left Pavot
Al Kyle with the best chance and he made no mistake, running
on and winning a shade cosily. Sabez missed the break and
wasn't disgraced considering.

RACE
SUMMARY |
Rawen
led into the straight but was tackled by Nivadour Cardonne
up centre of the track who gained the upper hand and seemed
likely to prevail but Sarah Kelleway had switched her tactics
to the far rail and Cheri Du Loup ran on strongly to lead
a furlong out and go away to win.

RACE
SUMMARY |
The
best betting race of the day with 5 horses disputing favouritism
and then finishing 1st to 5th. Island Rover and Crusader's
Magician were slowly away, Afra led from Nasarah but 2f out
there were several in a line with Bergamot and Doroman leading
the centre group tracked by Charan El Nefous who showed a
good turn of foot to win decisively. Doroman was switched
left after the winner went past him but the stewards decided
no interference had taken place. Island Rover did well to
finish 4th after his slow start.

RACE
SUMMARY |
The
Silver Gambler led from pillar to post keeping to the far
rail throughout and breaking his maiden tag on his 11th attempt.
He wasn't winning out of turn and he fully deserved this success,
battling all the way to fend off challengers. His chief rival
here, Darein, was travelling smoothly, tracking the leader
until asked the question over a furlong out but found litle
under pressure. Pharitz Samman came with a strong finish but
was just too late and stays further. Sakit Sura and Floriferoux
both put down a challenge but could find no extra.

RACE
SUMMARY |
The
favourite, Pride of James was left at the start and was a
furlong behind throughout. Midnight Call was another to suffer
but only lost half a dozen lengths although he never got on
terms. Hardtoback set the pace and would have won over any
shorter distance but he hardly stays a mile and he was all
out to repel Great Lady when the unfancied debutante Prussian
Duke came from an unpromising position to win going away.
