A decent renewal of the Derby trial and the winner Maggie De Faust (Dormane x Gina De Carrere) who was placed on her only start last season, she battled on really well in the final furlong to scrape home by short head, she looks progressive and a leading contender for the Derby. Stable mate Nes Naas (Jehol De Cardonne x Itallika) –also from Gill Duffields stable – ran a race full of promise on his racecourse debut in such a hot race, always handy, he came with a run inside the final furlong and was all out to hold onto second. Rainbow de Faust (Darike x Gabie De Carrere) was another short head back in third to complete the blanket finish, on only his second start he rallied well and looks capable of more improvement; all three deserve to take their chance in the Derby.
