Khulan (Vert Olive x Tikis Tiffany)

Track: AW StandardFirm

The Clarendon Stud Maiden Stakes over 7 Furlongs:
1. Najayeb
Mr. P Collington
2. Gharayib Mr. P J Murphy
3. Ankha Mr. S Holdsworth

Distances: 11, 7 10 ran Time: 01:39:10

Winner owned by HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Trained by Mrs. G Duffield. Bred by Shadwell Estate Co. Ltd.

Gill Duffield took the maiden in some style with racecourse debutant Najayeb (Djebbel x Juans Karita Ku) who looked in another league to the rest of field, travelling like a winner several furlongs out and quickening clear in the final furlong showing a devastating turn of foot to score by a comfortable 11 lengths. Her stable mate Gharayib (Vadeer x Aicha Tourettes) couldn’t live with the winner but is progressing the right and was clearly sharper for this event than her debut where she seemed to struggle. Bill Smiths runner Ankha (Khairouan x Amira D’Albret)seemed to struggle in the final two furlongs and perhaps didn’t handle the all weather surface.

The Mikeno Handicap Stakes 0-85 over 6 Furlongs:
1. Za’eemah
Mr. S Walker
2. Shafaq Mr. P Collington
3. Sing Me A Song Mr. A Newey

Distances: 3 ½, dist 3 ran Time: 01:25:30

Winner owned by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Trained by Mr. W Smith. Bred by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saeed.

Za’eemah (Passem Lotois x PS Crystal Sage) seems to be a sprinter of considerable talent and remains un-beaten in 3 races, she scorched home here and quickened up nicely in the closing stages and made Shafaq look very ordinary. Shafaq (Izentespeshal x Bisbille) seemed to struggle with the winner and hasn’t shown the same sort of form as last season which saw her beat The Vertuous Crusader at Lingfield over 6 Furlongs. Sing Me A Song (Tidjani x Sinka) did herself no favours by missing the break and is worth another try.

The Jebel Ali Racing Club Banded Stakes (Series Qualifier) over 1 Mile 3 Furlongs:
1. El Hamsa
Mr. S Goodings
2. Mehshiv Mr. A Byles
3. Makhai Mr. P D Rondel

Distances: 3, neck 9 ran Time: 02:54:80

Winner owned by Mr. S Goodings. Trained by Mr. J Morris. Bred by Mrs. L Hartley.

El Hamsa (Nasem x Myska) broke his duck in some style landing the valuable Jebel Ali Racing Club qualifier by an easy 3 lengths giving owner and rider Simon Goodings his first winner Arabian racing, always well placed he outstayed his rivals in the final furlong in game fashion. Mehshiv (Normativ x Mehsha) ran another decent race in second and seems to appreciate the all weather surface more than turf, whilst Makhai (Khairouan x Mais) fought hard in the closing stages and was only a neck back in third.

The Southwell Racecourse Open Handicap Stakes over 1 Mile 3 Furlongs:
1. Jiyush
Mr. P Collington
2. Fripon Al Maury Mr. S Walker
3. Nadjel Mr. J Akehurst

Distances: 2, 18 4 ran Time: 02:40:30

Winner owned and bred by HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Trained by Mrs. G Duffield.

Former Group 1 Dubai Stakes hero Jiyush (Manganate x Ester Du Paon) - who hasn’t raced in the UK since 2002 -won in emphatic fashion to show that he is by no means a back number, he scored easily from Fripon Al Maury (Djouras Tu x Fayoum) who although only beaten 2 lengths was value for more. A mouth-watering clash between Arsene Rupin and Jiyush in the Dubai Stakes in August is now on the cards. Nadjel (Djelfor x Super Nana) seems to have lost his form completely and gelding him doesn’t seem to have re-ignited his passion for the game, he was 18 lengths back in third.

The Pamela Linney Banded Stakes over 2 Miles:
1. Lile D’Amour
Mr. S Holdsworth
2. Messenger Man Mr. S Walker
3. Majestic Dream Mr. D Turner

Distances: 8, 7 10 ran Time: 04:17:80

Winner owned by Mr. & Mrs. A Connally. Trained by Mrs. S Connally. Bred by Mr. & Mrs P Deymonaz.

Confirmed mudlark and all weather lover Lile D’Amour (Merlin Al Maury x Daad) scored as she liked back on her preferred terrain, she was always handy in behind long time leader and pace setter Messenger Man and outstayed the field impressively in the closing stages to win by an easy 8 lengths. Messenger Man (Vadeer x Mesange Al Maury) ran a career best in second, he battled on really well in the closing stages and should open his account at this level soon. Majestic Dream (Frere Des Loups x Autumn Dream) seemed to struggle in the closing stages but plugged on for third.

The Hot & Cold Handicap Stakes 0-70 over 5 Furlongs:
1. Khulan
Mr. S Walker
2. Abra Mr. R Cummings
3. Jana Mr. S Holdsworth

Distances: 1 ¼, 2 ½ 7 ran Time: 01:07:60

Winner owned by HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Trained by Mr. W Smith. Bred by Shadwell Estate Co. Ltd.

Khulan (Vert Olive x Tikis Tiffany) showed a smart turn of foot to give trainer Bill Smith his second winner of the meeting, she was always handy and was given a superb ride by Champion jockey Simon Walker who produced her to win by a cosy 1 ¼ length. Abra (Dormane x Djoula) ran another game race in second under novice jockey Ryan Cummings, she couldn’t get past the winner but seems to be maintaining her form this season. Whilst Jana (Normativ x Joli) seemed to find the trip a shade on the sharp side but kept on for third.

The Larkinglass Farm Graduation Stakes 0-110 over 1 Mile 3 Furlongs:
1. Sugar Dandy
Miss C J Green
2. Castle Lee Lad Mr. S Walker
3. Inspector Morse Mr. P J Murphy

Distances: 6, 1 ½ 8 ran Time: 02:38:20

Winner owned and trained by Miss C J Green. Bred by Mrs M L Thorp.

Sugar Dandy (Ballacashtal x Chantille Saucy Sal) won as he liked under a confident ride from owner/trainer/jockey Caroline Green, always prominent he quickened clear in the final furlong in some style to win by an easy 6 lengths. Castle Lee Lad (Kenilworth Castle x Miss Annabel Lee) ran a promising race in second, he travelled well and although no match for the winner he battled on for second. Inspector Morse (Eaglescliffe x Maher) was a shade disappointing in third but is worth another chance.
