Mutamarres was quickly away from the stalls and set a decent pace, which gave the hold up horses a perfect race. Roches Du Cayrou (Newday x Kahinaoura) who has really found his form this season under his highly talented trainer Delyth Thomas and was given a superb ride by apprentice jockey M Savage, held up throughout he was produced within the final furlong and got home by a comfortable half a length. Deolali (Khairouan x Operetta (Silver Scenario)) settled mid division early on came with his run in the closing stages and rallied really hard in the final furlong and just lost out to the winner but lost nothing in defeat. Tarfih (Dormane x Simooma (Vadeer)) for the powerful combination of Gill Duffield / HH Sheikh Hamdan made a pleasing seasonal debut 2 ½ lengths back in third, she travelled well throughout and was just caught a little flat footed in the final furlong and will come on for the run, but question marks remain about whether or not she stays this far.
