Track: Firm

The Clarendon Stud Maiden Stakes – 7 ½ Furlongs:
1. Shafaq Mr P Collington
2. Vakate Mr S Walker
3. CSA Mahan Mr S Harrison

Distances: 7, ½ 5 ran Time: 01:43:90

Winner Owned by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin R Al Maktoum. Trained Mrs. G Duffield. Bred by Shadwell Estate Company Ltd.

Shafaq (Izentespeshal X Bisbelle) won the maiden in the manner of an odds on favourite traveling well before kicking clear in the final furlong to win as she liked, an impressive debut and the future looks bright for this progressive four year old. Vakate (Vadeer X CR Angel Kate) was always prominent and had every chance two furlongs out but was no match for the winner, his turn is not far away. Whilst CSA Mahan (Eaglescliffe X Mahri) made a promising racecourse debut.

The Town and Country Farms Novice Riders Handicap Stakes (0-45) 1 Mile 6 Furlongs:
1. Chelmer Riasha Miss D Crothers
2. Makhai Mr P D Rondel
3. SA Anothersam Mr D Weeks

Distances: neck, 8 7 ran Time: 03:30:60

Winner owned and trained by Miss. D Crothers. Bred by Mrs. M L MacPherson.

Debbie Crothers yard is in fine form and she followed up last weeks winner with her own gutsy little mare Chelmer Riasha (Halim Pasha X Ria-Bint-Procyon (Procyon) taking the novice rider race, she out stayed her rivals in dour fashion and is clearly going the right way. Makhai (Khairouan X Mais (Mamluk) made an excellent seasonal debut and looks a different prospect to last season, he relished this trip and he should lose his maiden tag soon at this level. SA Anothersam (Sambist X Rezah’s Nadine) is proving expensive to follow and doesn’t seem to relish a struggle these days.

The Penwood Winners Handicap Stakes (Anglo & PBA) 1 Mile 6 Furlongs:
1. Inspector Morse Mr D Weeks
2. La Perruche Mr P D Rondel
3. Curupanna Mr S Walker

Distances: 2 ½, ½ 6 ran Time: 03:11:10

Winner owned and bred by Mr. T J Day. Trained by Mr. J R Candlish.

Robbie Candlish’s yard started as it means to go on when Inspector Morse (Eaglescliffe X Maher) cruised home impressively in the one mile six furlong handicap, always handy he had the measure of this field from two furlongs out and won comfortably with two and half lengths to spare. La Perruche (L’Estragon X Iron Bird) ran a gallant race in second and worked hard to repel the late thrust of the third Curupanna (Opera Ghost X Easter Panic) who ran another game race and was clear of the remainder.

The Jebel Ali Racing Club (Series Qualifier) Handicap Stakes (0-65) 7 ½ Furlongs:
1. Ibn Ajwaad Miss. E-J Jones
2. Hayleys Comet Mr S Harrison
3. Jana Mr S Holdsworth

Distances: 9, 3 16 ran Time: 01:39:40

Winner owned by Mrs. M Young. Trained by Mrs. N Van Djik. Bred by Mrs. P Jones.

The highly competitive sixteen runner Jebel Ali Racing Club handicap over seven and half furlongs proved to be a walk in the park for the incredibly impressive winner Ibn Ajwaad (Arioso X Tecaf Shukran) - a full brother to the formerly useful handicapper Mudhadid Al Arran - who showed a devastating turn of foot to out sprint his rivals and won by an easy nine lengths under a skilful ride from Emily Jones. This performance was all the more impressive as he had been off the track for two years and is testament to the fact that Nicky Van Djik’s horses can never be under estimated – however he has received a vicious 24 pound hike from the handicapper as a result. Hayley’s Comet (Nevesti X Kapilia) was always travelling well and was comfortably holding the field, he will be interesting when stepped up to a mile and is on a fair mark at present. Jana (Normativ X Joli) followed up last weeks excellent effort with another storming run, she is game and tough and looks capable of scoring again off her current mark.

The Racing For You Handicap Stakes (0-90) 7 ½ Furlongs:
1. Muthaaber Mr P Collington
2. Pavots Dreamboy Miss E-J Jones
3. Cal Karamah Mr S Holdsworth

Distances: 2 ½, 1 ¾ 6 ran Time: 01:39:40

Winner owned by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin R Al Maktoum. Trained by Mrs. G Duffield. Bred by Shadwell Estate Company Ltd.

Muthaaber (Bengali D’Albret X Volna) followed up his decent maiden win at Exeter with another authoratitive success against these seasoned handicappers, his useful turn of foot and blistering pace saw him beat this decent field with something in hand. Pavots Dreamboy (Pavot Al Maury X Autumn Dream) showed a returning to form with a battling second, although never catching the winner he is clearly best suited to trips around a mile and should win his share of races this season. Cal Karamah (Karmah X Mora Amapola) has had some tough tasks this season and is shade high in the handicap at present but still ran on gamely in the final furlong.

The Claydon Horse Exercisers Classified Stakes (0-85) 5 Furlongs:
1. Olivphaya Mr P J Murphy
2. Al Jameh Mr S Walker
3. Maiyzah Mr D Turner

Distances: 6, 3 ½ 4 ran Time: 00:57:00

Winner owned and bred by Mrs. C Cone. Trained by Mr. P J Murphy.

Olivphaya (Vert Olive X Phaya) has always looked a sprinter at heart and provided the powerful Pat Murphy/Christine Cone team with a timely win by out sprinting her rivals over this five furlong trip, she was never in danger and remains dangerous over this minimum trip. Al Jameh (Sample Copy X CR Quiet Storm) couldn’t live with the winner and found this trip a touch on the sharp side, he should open his account soon when stepped back up to a mile, whilst Maiyzah (Tayar X Nailah (Naftalin)found everything happening a little too quickly but is on fair mark and should be winning soon.

The Brightwells “August Sale” Stakes 1 Mile 6 Furlongs:
1. Juma Mr P Collington
2. Baraka Ibn Al-Tesah Mr S Walker
3. CS Clarion Mr D Turner

Distances: 4, 11 9 ran Time: 03:14:90

Winner owned by Miss. J M Powell. Trained by Mrs. G Duffield. Bred by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Juma (Sambist X Jerba Du Paon) testified to his well being by out pointing his rivals in a comfortable manner over the one mile six furlong trip of the Brightwells “August Sale” Stakes, he was always travelling well and won with an easy four lengths over his nearest pursuer. Baraka Ibn Al-Tesah (ZT Shahkar X Al Tesah) was travelling well but didn’t have the same reserves of stamina as the winner and has yet to prove that he truly stays this trip. CS Clarion (Chndaka X Cikada (Klarnet) was tapped for toe in the final two furlongs and found this company a bit hot, his turn won’t be far away when he returns to handicaps over this trip.
