The Emirates Arabian Apprentice Handicap
Stakes (50-90) 7 Furlongs:
1. Lile D’Amour Leanne
Kershaw
2. Bas Hisaan Charlotte Kherton
3. Fayre Abi W Hogg
Distances: 2 ½, ½ 8 ran Time: 01:57:89
Winner owned by Mr. & Mrs. A Connally. Trained by
Mrs. S Connally. Bred by Mr. & Mrs. P Deymonaz.
A competitive handicap with a surprise result for everyone except
perhaps for the trainer of Lile D’Amour (Merlin Al Maury
X Daad) Sue Connally who has always rated her a class filly and
she proved it today. Running off seven stone ten pounds she was
backed to the virtual exclusion of everything else eventually
being sent off 6 / 4 on favourite and she obliged in emphatic
fashion showing the field a clean pair of heels under a masterful
ride from Leanne Kershaw to pull clear in the final furlong to
win by a comfortable two and half lengths. She had previously
done all her winning on the all weather at Southwell and Wolverhampton
and clearly likes give in the ground but she is only six year
old and seems very much on the upgrade. Bas Hisaan (Crusader X
Maloof Hadiya) ran another solid race and seems to appreciate
Charlotte Kerton’s confident style of riding, he stuck on
gamely to his task to just hold onto second. Fayre Abi (Abitibi
X Fayrelands Gold) ran well in third and seems to be returning
to form, he’s slipped down the weights and should score
soon.
