Hi all - Just a link to a Babson project so we can all look up horses and discover if our arabs have Babson blood in them. It is an ongoing project

I have just requested to be included in the SBE newsletter too; e-mail me if you want the details

ooooo... thank you.....just going to google cranham stud... I am so ignorant to his history so I really should start researching!!!!
Thank you Nat, He is lovely... It such a shame he never had any babies - he was gelded at 8 years never having succesfully covered any mares... I would have loved one of his offspring....

Kirsty, Cranham Stud is no longer running I'm afraid although I am still in touch with Jayne Pointer, the proprieter.

Cranham would have bred Platinam Pearl

I wonder when i saw that there website was closed - but my search did bring up your blog regarding your visit in may.... I spent quite a while browsing through your site and photos... they are all lovely! You must be so proud!

I'm on a mission to find photos and snippets of Sheraz' history now... allbreeds seems to be the only info I can find though...

Next time you speak to Jayne you can pass on that it is a great pleasure to be a part of Pearls great grandsons life... he's just everything you could dream of and he will be with me for life

x

Yes this is great but there are some errors...
This is a great project anyway.

There is already a SBE newsletter, you just have to contact Carolyn Jacobson and ask to subsribe:
beauxchevauxfarm@aol.com

Also for those babson lovers there is the Babson book who will be available very soon hopefully at the website of the Istitute for the Desert Bred Arabian.

He is straight Egyptian, but not straight Babson as he also has EAO ancestors. Does this help?

Hi all,
he is SO but not SBE. he is heirloom by the way :)

All the SBE horses are SE and SO, some are Heirloom(those who have not BBDurra).

Hi

Minhe thanks for your responce.

Clothilde, can you tell me what the difference between SO & SBE is? and what does Heirloom mean.
I've had Tor for 2 years now and you would think I would have got to grips with all this by now but still a bit confused:-)
Do you still have Tor's sire in France? I heard he was maybe coming back to the UK.

Michelle

Hi,
SO refers to the horses tracing in all lines to the S.O.F.I rooster that is to say mainly the Se's withtout El Deree(mainly...). The rooster is based on different Egyptian programs, mainly those of the Egyptian Princes of the 19th century with the addition of Lady Anne Blunt and the RAS.

Among the SO, you will find the S.B.E, Straight Babson Egyptians horses who traces to the original imports of Mr Henry.B.Babson in 1932 in the US. they have been bred since among this small group.

Heirloom is a quite recent association which rooster is even more restricted then SO, using only the blood of the Egypt I and Blunt horses (cf Al Khamsa denominations).

Is it more clear?
Just ask if you have more questions!

regarding King of the Nile, I have no clue, he was even for sale recently so I don't know his current status...

Hi Clothilde

Thanks for you explanation:-)
So should I just always refer to him as Heirloom Sheykh Obeyd?
