Well, Royal Windsor was amazing as per usual... This year was the 70th anniversary of the show, and the King of Bahrain was there to present the Queen with two of his best pure bred Arabian Stallions. There were 7 stallions there doing the mini show. And all were absolutely stunning. I think I've converted my friends, and all now want Arabs
The display had each stallion come out with his handler, and they paraded around castle arena, most of them putting some sort of acrobatic display on, much to the crowd's pleasure!
I managed to get pictures, and I really want you all to see them, and then, once they've uploaded, I'll put the best part of the entire day on too. Well it was definitely the most beautiful part of the show to me anyway
These were the 7, all of whom I am completely in love with now...
More pictures of the best bit to follow.
Oh, while they did the display, the commentator was telling the crowd about the strains these guys come from. Each came from the oldest and purest of the Bedouin strains. So for the seven strains, each was represented by the seven stallions.

Sorry Goldenmane, there's a long queue for the chestnut! Beautiful horses and I am sure they moved even better than they looked. Well done for converting your friends into arab lovers! |

Oh Callisto, I was eyeing the bay up while they were still in the practice arena... Eveyone else had their eyes on the Show Hunter championship. I saw high flagging tails and off I went lol. I have lots of photos of the bay on my phone, and the handler was really friendly and brought him over for me to say hello I must have looked a bit scary with the huge grin on my face, but the pretty bay didn't seem to mind me having a little nose to nose nuzzle with him I wrote his full name down somewhere!! Think I've got the bit of show guide I wrote it down on at home... I'll have a look after work

I just love chestnuts, so its in the queue for me. Or as the lady walker said to me yesterday, whilst looking in the direction of my little herd "oh, I like the Ginger one". She was talking about Zar, but I suppose she could have meant my stable lad. Both are super nice to know.
I did read some slightly negative comments about the display ... usual stuff ... Arab show style .. nuts .... flighty .....etc ... Point missed I fear. |

That was the general titter of the crowd unfortunately, but I think after seeing the stallion doing his loose part of the show, they realised that these particular horses love their masters, and are not in any way scared or nervous. They were loving every second of being in the spotlight. Made me laugh when a lady next to us said to her friend 'Just watch, they'll be smacking them about with the leather lead to get them to act up, just you watch'. I held my tongue, but you know when you just want to shout about how ignorant some people are?! God, These horses were in spectacular condition, a blind man could see that, and they were happy healthy horses. It really does annoy me. And none of them were flighty in the slightest. If anything, as the commentator was saying, they looked to be incredibly nosey, and interested in what was going on!! It's people just seeing the stereotype though isn't it??
