this poor poor horse. http://belfast.gumtree.com/belfast/37/67339937.html
hes got huge sores on his withers and needs a good feed and tlc by looksofit. I replied couldn't help my self, told them the pictures were terrible, poor horse needs a good feed and them big sores are awful, and that hes certainly not worth 1500 and who would ever consider giving him a horsein part exchange.

Just read your post with great interest....the poor boy looks so forlorn & fed up with life does'nt he. We have a chestnut mare CAS Kazurai who foaled a bay colt in about 2005, the "breeder" (she purchased Kaz from Round Oak Arabians, U.K. in foal to Om El Mariekh) sold Kaz back to the U.K. in 2006 which is how we came to own her. Tried to get info on what became of her colt & was only able to establish that he is still registared to "breeders" ownership. May see if I can find out more.... Kim. |
Many years experience owning & riding my own horses. Fell in love with Arabians at 11 years old when given a ride on "Trevallion", a 3/4 bred who was a livery where I worked as a stablehand. I have never forgotten that ride, Thank You Yvonne- should you ever read this!I now have 2 beautiful purebreds.

Kim, I think this is your colt; now called Argon. Was used in films this year but man wants to get rid of him cos he didnt winter out well last year and he's getting thin now, so he "wants money more than the horse". Is 10miles from Belfast (George Best) Airport. Breeding is exactly as you describe it. Better move fast, as when his breeding is realised, he'll be gone! Not seen a vet at all. Has got an Arab passport. "Very quiet". Has been "ridden by novice people" in films. The mind boggles. How shall we get him seen and back to UK? Think £1200 plus his travel should do it. I'm happy to foot bill but would need somewhere to put him as we are full at the moment. I'm in Kent. |

Ok - we're off! Bought him over the phone, having had a long and informative chat with Kim - thanks, Kim! Got him a temp (over the winter, anyway) lodgings with a very good yard, who are well versed in careful rehab of thin neglected youngsters from Ireland. (No offence to Irish horsekeepers, just that Anne gets her jumping horses from there and they are sometimes very t&n and she brings them on slowly and carefully and does really well with them over time). He's coming over on the lorry within about two weeks; Anne's transporter know the chap who has him, who will pay half the transport costs apparently - we'll see. Anyway, deposit money transfer happening tomorrow. Got him for £1350. Heaven knows what it will take to get him right - hopefully tlc and good horsekeeping. Hope his brain and body haven't been ruined beyond hope. Well - that's today's little fit of madness over! If he's halfway OK, may keep him myself - see how Ryazan gets on with chronic intermittant lameness due to old age, wear and tear and cross country tendon tear some years back. It's managed pretty well, but we are a bit limited in what we can do now, one mad spook/buck/leap can set it off again! Otherwise, make sure he is sound and well and try to find him a Very Good Home via AL! How exciting it all is |

Oh well done Zooscat - originally couldn't bring myself to look at the pictures, after reading Honey's post. But having looked at him, fingers crossed that a good worming, teeth check, a decent diet and a lot of TLC is all he needs. Who knows - perhaps he is your latest best friend?
All the very best of luck with him, and I hope he is soon enjoying his new life. Do keep us posted with updates on your new project. |

Zoocat, am I right recalling that you did a similar thing saving a grey mare? You don't mess about. I have to say, I think you really are a good person of action not just words. I take my hat off to you. |

Ooh, thanks, folks!Heres how its going so far; Aragorn is being vetted by Alan Dunlop this afternoon (apparently a Well Respected Man in Irish horseracing circles; The Current Owner has brought him in, rugged him and is feeding him chaff, pony nuts and easi beet and haylage.(Not too much either - dont worry - I checked!) He is also turning him out in the daytime, rugged up!! TCO has got his deposit in the bank and is being Very Helpful! I have got a really good lodgings over near to Ryazan, with a Well Respected Arabian Breeder and Judge - sorry for the caps but its all taking on a slightly "newspaper column" feel to it - rather Liz Jones! (No offence, Ms Jones, really!!)- who is captivated with the whole story and looking forward to the arrival! If all goes well, he should be over here in the early part of next week -eek! |

Poor little thing, he does look miserable in that photo. Hope he turns out well for you Zooscat. I could only look at the photo once I'd read your post saying you'd bought him. Looking forward to more photos when he arrives. How exciting! PS I'm quite fond of the Liz Jones style capitals.. didnt she used to write for the Sunday Times style magazine? I wonder what happened to her? |

Ryazan is currently resting his dodgy tendon - slightly unlevel due to a fit of naughty bucking round the field to show off to the TB fillies next door!Bad Horse!! Which is one reason, I suppose that I have leapt into the Irish Rescue Bid - although have just added up the cost of keeping two - agh all over again! However, I have lots of everything including tack, and a saddle that I can swop for a decent Wintec or Thorogood with my saddler. Cant afford another WOW at the moment! Dont think I'll be doing much riding with A for the time being, as he will need lots of TLC and steady groundwork etc to begin with. Waiting for vet to phone back re outcome of vetting. Fingers and toes crossed! |
