Wow what a pedigree, and such a sweet girl. How do we know that it is her?? Does she have her papers still with her?? And is she sold or not??
I think her owner is not to blame, but a victim of people who have taken her by the nose.

Hi, I know that I am new to the forum so am not well known, but I have been viewing the threads and following all the ups and downs on here, which I have to say has been a very humbling and emotional experience. You are all a truly wonderful bunch of genuine horse lovers (should say Arab horse lovers but I think from what I have seen, you all love equines of all sorts). I live in Powys, if I can help at all please let me know. I could certainly give the old mare a forever home but it looks as though her owner wants way too much. Do let me know if I can help though. I think you should all carefully read the whole post before posting. Not getting at anyone but the some of the answers are there already.
The owner says she is sold. Several people have rung over the weekend and been told that she is sold. There is no reason to doubt this, but we don't know where she is going. I am trying to get to the riding stables as this is a public place after all. That way I might be able to see her and find out more about her new home. I have abandoned the welfare chase as it would be better to see first hand how the other horses are before calling in the cavalry. |

Ive just done a really long post and lost it will try again.
According to AHS stud book vol 19 Viuga 1983 Grey mare was imported in 2000 by Pauline Crick. There is a filly registered to Viuga in vol 20 by G Tamim (LTF Tamina). Really hope this old lady has found a comfortable loving home to end her days in. |

Hope you don't see this as an irritating suggestion, considering you have just lost a long post, but when creating a long post, our Save draft option can really be of use. Whenever you feel like it, you can just click the Save as Draft button and all you have will be saved in your drafts folder (My Arabian Lines -> My AL Drafts), and you can just go there and pick from where you left. On longs posts, doing this a couple times can save you from accidental losses like the one you just told us about...

Hi, just to say I have just had a call from Sue Richards from Powys who has just heard about this thread and has asked me to put her telephone number on her as she is willing to help in anyway possible. Her number is 01873 810044. |

Hi. I know this is a heck of a long shot but today at Hatherleigh market in Devon there was a very old (allegedly 19yr old) flea-bitten grey mare. She was very unhappy, very thin and wouldn't let me look in her mouth and put her ears back and squealed. I noticed she had been rubbing her mouth so is obviously in discomfort. The man selling her said he owns a riding school in.... wait for it.... Poole, Dorset. This couldn't possibly be the same mare could it? I took a video of her because I want to get hold of a rescue organisation to step in. Im not in a position to take her on personally but I met another lady who actually wanted to buy her but had no where to keep her. I siad she could come to mine temporarily but the man drove off before we could sort anything out. I did manage to get his telephone number and noted he was in a hired van. He wanted £120 for her. You read that right. Can anybody suggest how this poor old mare can be helped please? |

You're right Pat, I did check at the time and I found the ad on the internet. Can't think why I thougth she was chestnut. However, if she is Nanata as suggested above, she was bred by Tersk and imported over here. Anyway, regardless of who she is and what breeding (because lets face it, she is not a brood mare at 27 - I hope!!!), please god she has gone to a nice home to spend the rest of her days with dignity. It is tremendously difficult if you sell a horse on full stop, because you simply lose control over what happens to that horse subsequently, but then equally, if nobody sold horses, most of us wouldn't have the ones we have now either!! |

Sorry but does it really matter how she is bred? the fact that she is an old girl and in pain (with her mouth) is enough to want to save her........ well done to everyone that is not giving up in the search for this poor old girl, it is such a shame for any horse that gives her life to please us humans only to be discarded when old, it is so terribly sad, if I won the lottery I would take in every old horse and it could end its days grazing here with the sun on its back as I know we all would, please keep looking and keep us updated. |

Absolutely agree with you Gerri. It just seems even more bizarre if the horse is imported at great cost or someone has paid an enormous amount to breed it in the first place. But, its a very sad state at the moment in terms of oldies out there. A friend of mine has been vaguely looking for a horse and the numbers of cheap or old horses is staggering, and of course as you say, its not limited to arabs.
I have to say, I think it stretches credulity that someone would pay £1,500 for a 27 year old mare, unless it was a mercy buy... |

Hi all, surely, if someone near powys rang round all the riding schools in the area and asked for the owner of the yard called Karen, who has a few arabs for sale, we would find out about Paris????? i dont mind ringing, i just thought it would be easier for someone who new the area?????does all seem a bit fishy, a thin old arab sold for over a grand?? i just hope the owner didnt do something silly and sell or give her to the wrong kind of people, maybe my thoughts are wrong, hopefuly its all ok and she safe and happy..... |

Sorry to resurect an old thread, ive been quietly looking for something quiet for my partner & i happen to spot a 20yr old arab mare for sale, after making a few more enquirys about her (& she is called Paris) im actually thinking this is the same mare. Will keep you all posted as there seems a fair few of you who were concerned as to what had happened to her. My only concern after reading all this is if she is actually 20 or older. |

If this is this very old Mare. Can we not start a fund to buy her if she is only £150? surely she has had enough now. I will contribute. I have a 26 year old who is FULL of life and ridden regularily. |
