Happy new year to all!

I am getting concerned about our old english arabs, where are they, does no- one care that they seem to be disappearing?

One line in particular, the great mare Nuhra, there are so very few left remaining, that trace to her in the tail female line, with an old english/crabbet pedigree..

So do you have a crabbet/ old english arab, please share them with us, treasure them, i fear there won't be many left at all soon.

I have one she's 97.57% Crabbet and 100% Old English and is one of the very very few who traces in her tail female line to Queen of Sheba. She's the chestnut in my sig pics.

I have just lost my Crabbet/Old English mare Celestial Silver (Aboud x Silver Yasmin) 96.71% Crabbet and I think 100% Old English, two months ago who traces in tail female to a mare Mahawiliyah. She is classed as a Kehailet Ajuz and has two chestnut full sisters, Chanele and Charisima who are still living. She left me a beautiful colt this year which makes losing her a little easier. I fear I am not going to be able to part with him as he is such a lovely boy and I dont want to lose her bloodlines. His sire although straight Egyptian has 33% Crabbet through his old Egyptian lines.

She is the white mare in my sig pics.

Mine's fairly strong crabbet, Gari Dill Marlow said she 'couldn't have a stronger or better tail female line' (think is was tail female, she certainly used "stronger or better" which made my day!). Her dam is on all breeds as Silka Saint (thought she's called Sika Saint so not sure if that may be a full sister or a spelling mistake) and her father is Silver Invader.

My old boy (Sayan) who is 25 now was bought from Barton Lodge 22 years and has Nuhra on both sides of his breeding, I have been told that he is old english breeding, but don't really know how to check this or to find out what percentage crabbit he has, if any? but I do know that in all the 22 years that I have owned him, he has always been absolutely brilliant, if I could find another one with his temperament and manners I would buy him straight away

I would definitely get another crabbet, she has the most wonderful temperament, and is also fun to ride if you're a novice (like my mum) or like more of a challenge. She makes everyone around her smile :)

We have super 97.6% Crabbet boy who's currently on the AL sales pages. He's still entire and was bred for endurance (should make an exceptional competitor - all the right temperament and attitude as well as the build) but it may well be that he'll have to be gelded as a lot of people can't find livery for a stallion. It's a shame as he has all the Crabbet/Old English advantages as well as terrific movement and if he is as successful as I think he could be (his Dad was a 160km-er) people might want his genes!!

My mare, who is the horse in my avator pic, Rose Alba, is (I think) 100 % Old English, 95.65% Crabbet:

http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/rose+alba2

Thinking about putting her in foal this year but not found the right stallion yet?

Edited to add:the photo of her was taken when she was about 17 years old so not a spring chicken! - shes now 20.

I have Khazana Bint Almas, at least 70% Crabbet as by Diamond Star and out of some fast diminishing Courthouse lines through her dam Raqisa with a dash of Polish from the wonderful Argos. She was bred by Judith Evans and I have had her since a foal and she will be 19 this year, not that she knows it. My two middle girls are both by Aazari (BNC) who is high %age Crabbet but with the wonderful Camargue and El Shaklan blood. The older sister, Jumainah is out of high %age Crabbet bred Jammilah (BNC). My baby girl is out of Jumainah and therefore still carrying the valuable English lines and by the fabulous Azteq, Maxwell breeding with Egyptian, Spanish and all the fabulous Maxwell Aliha and El Shaklan blood again. It's the mixture of new blood on the baseline of old English that gives such quality and yet substance . Nearly forgot my gelding Fantastic Silver who is 100% Crabbet - sorry Tas but he lives away with Laura who also has two other Crabbet horses.
So the Old English bloodlines are still about and a lot of people are retaining these lines - you only had to see the Crabbet classes at Malvern last year - superb !

My colt out of my Crabbet/Old English mare Celestial Silver is by my straight Egyptian stallion who I have mentioned in my previous post is 33% Crabbet through his old Egyptian lines as per his Crabbet certificate. I can understand not mixing Crabbet with lines that are already very mixed Arab blood, but where is the harm of using an Egyptian stallion? After all the Crabbet Arabian if I am correct originated from the desert, or am I missing something here. Do you not think Lady Blunt would have used Egyptian as new blood was needed?. Lady Wentworth I'm not sure of. I would love to hear what you all think on this matter.

I have the beautiful Ashuer Miska (Rabidan x Shenkha), 25 this year, 100% Crabbet/Old English , unfortunatly she was never able to pass on her stunning looks (I might be slightly biased!) and bloodlines...something I will always regret.

http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/ashuer+miska - with two lines to Nuhra. She is the chestnut in my sig.

My old chap Kasrin is thirty this year, he is by Indian Firedance out of Karlotta, tail female line is Nuhra. He was bred by the Brethertons and has been with me since he was seven. He is a great old boy and has raced in the eighties, did endurance in the nineties, been a film star, was greatly admired in the hunting field and has done all I ever asked of him. He still hacks out, but knows all the short cuts home, hope he is with me for years yet.
