HI everyone Just to draw your attention to something I have found on a different thread: AL discussion: 'The future of UK showing' - page 2
It has been highlighted on this thread that if we want to have a chance to qualify for HOYS with our beautiful animals, we are going to have to pay £85 (or £100 depending on how organised you are!!!) per horse for a qualification card.
I'm sure there will be many groans right now as things are so tight for people and the cost of showing is going up and up. I'm wondering how many people just won't be able to cope with the price hikes. I am a true amateur who competes for the love of horses and showing. It is an honour to represent the breed at HOYS and I was looking forward to next season, having 2 pure breds to show for the first time. One is a novice mare who may or may not have tried a couple of qualifiers at the end of the season, like many people do 'just to see what happens'. This won't be happening now, so please can shows consider open non-HOYS classes?
Just to compare, I also have a hack but have always preferred the arab shows. I think I will be doing a few more hack classes next season as some of the entry fees are a lot cheaper (Ashbourne is about £20 for a HOYS qual) and the HOYS ticket is £45. At least there is a chance of prize money to go towards some of the costs laid out.
Anyway, what do other people think??? I'm not a moaner - I'm just going to go and jingle the piggy bank and see what it sounds like!!!!
Hope everyone has a lovely Xmas and happy and horsey new year. Ali xx

NEWS!!! Apparently a mistake has been made in the wording of the letter from AHS and it now reads:
From 2009 all horses, that you wish to qualify for the Ridden Arab Horse of the Year Show classes at Arab Horse Society affiliated shows, must have a qualifying card from the Arab Horse Society.
Elaine Mann has emailed to state: Horses can be entered for HOYS classes without a card but only ones with a card can qualify.

The full information is in the discussion thread, under "The future os showing in UK. Have copied the paragraph below, in order to give you an answer.
Just had notification from AHS re HOYS 2009 - all horses entering HOYS qualifiers at AHS affiliated shows must have a qualifying card from AHS. These are £85 bought upto and including March 31st 2009 and £100 after. This has been a recent decision by Council to try and guarantee the future of Arab classes at HOYS. Now corrected by AHS - please see further postings ... |

Just to make sure there is no confusion the correct wording is: From 2009 all horses, that you wish to qualify for the Ridden Arab Horse of the Year Show classes at Arab Horse Society affiliated shows, must have a qualifying card from the Arab Horse Society. Thanks!!! |
