I have tried to surch on the net to find an idea how to find out the strains.Whatīs the different to bloodlines and strains?
Have read a little on arabianhorse.org under education, but the explanation was very short.
As Bob said all the brains are in this forum, and with my age Iīm not able to wish all this books you have for Christmas unless I be 100 years old, my family arenīt big either.
So here I go.
On my pedigree stands Kuheilet El Krush (Dafina or.ar.) but that Kuheilet is that the strain and what about El Krush?
Some of my horses go to Keheileh Rodanieh ibn Rualla ( Rodania or.ar.) and one to Kuhajlan Dajani (Darjania or.ar.)
Kuheilet,Keheileh and Kuhajlan is it the same just spelled different?
On the educationside I find that there was very little about this El krush and a lot more of all the others, citat:
The Bedouin valued pure in strain horses above all others, and many tribes owned only one main strain of horse. The five basic families of the breed, known as "Al Khamsa", include Kehilan, Seglawi, Abeyan, Hamdani and Hadban. Other, less "choice" strains include Maneghi, Jilfan, Shuwayman, and Dahman. Substrains developed in each main strain, named after a celebrated mare or Sheik that formed a substantial branch within the main strain.
If somebody have the knowlegde about the El Krush will you share it with me?
I would love to hear about the others to.
According the stallion on the pedigree I think you do it the same way, follow the motherline down to the desert breed, but how on earth you find the strain if you donīt have his pedigree ?And when you find her, is it her who represent the strain?.
May be it is the wrong forum. but can we call it a kind of a quiz?

Ok , I think I found out it myself, the only thing now I want is if somebody can tell me about the El Krush strain, how many horses come from that tribe and are they still in some pedigrees. I know of Dafina and a mare called Weil or something like that in the Davenports.

Do you have any of the Judith Forbis books? If not do a search on Amazon or similar as her books do have a lot of info on strains. There is some info on a web site somewhere too.... I will take a break from work and have a hunt around for you (any excuse to surf!!) |

Here on a rainy, blowy day I have spend several hours by the pc and find that the Davenport horses represent a lot of El Krush.
I also now know that the El Krush have a more sinuous appearance.
I have first now began to think about strains as I though that the tailmare was so long away that she has no influence, but I was wondering about the differences between Mead and Martini although they have the same father.
Long story I will continure to look at strains, as I found out that the female line very well can be that who are less representet.
