Hi Angie, I would definitely freezeband as its a visual deterrant for possible thieves and its easier for the police (who can be non-horsey) to understand a number, than a horsey description. Lisa |

I am not sure how many thieves actually kmow what the microchip brand means......??
None of mine are freezemarked but I am intending to get them all done in the spring, although not sure about getting the grey (Turbo) done as I haven't had much success with greys and freezemarks.... |
Some people are like a Slinky ... not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs.

Hi Ang, all three of mine are freezemarked by farmkey and microchipped as well, I did both for my peace of mind thinking that i have at least done the best. The lady recently freezemarked Falon and Savhanna and she was very very calm and quiet with them. Very nice helpfull lady |

My gelding is both chipped and freeze marked. He stood still and wasn't worried about the freezemarking at all (unlike the dreaded needle!!) Porsche - he is grey and his brand stands out very clearly even in winter, They left the brand on just a little longer than normal to ensure that all the hair is killed off. You can see in the link below. |

If you do a search on here we had quite a debate a while ago on this subject. I am very Pro-freezemark as I had two horses stolen and abandoned by the M4, after the thieves open the front of the rugs and saw the freezemarks..... |

A pony was stolen near us about 2 months ago. I got my mare freezemarked 2 weeks later. I like the visibility of it because the microchips don't show. I hate thieves and spray painted my postcode in massive letters on my rugs, I branded my last saddle in massive postcode and wrote stolen from ..... on the underside. I knew I couldn't sell it, but then neither could they!! Polly, have you ever asked Farmkey for some money to appear in any of their adverts? |
