Has anyone got any photos or information on the stallion Stourvale Bourbon Rex? - He was born 1976, Palomino (Indrani x Roundhills Hawaiian Queen). I know there are lots of Palomino experts out there!

Yes i do ! ha ha
I took these pics of Rex at South West Arab Show at Newton Abbot Racecourse in 1988 ! He belonged to Mr Dennis who had the Stonleigh Stud at Moretonhampstead . (Dont all you pally fans laugh at me but i seem to have photographed almost every palomino that i clapped eyes on) ! He was a stunning looking horse He did once belong to my friend Jill Duke (Palomino breeder)when she lived in the South West.

Wow Sarah - thank you so much for the photos. He is gorgeous - look at that front and what a lovely lovely head! He looks so stunning.
I have his half brother by Indrani, not a palomino i'm afraid, so I'm absolutely thrilled to see these photos. I'm also dead impressed that you could find photographs taken 19 years ago so quickly!

Hi Offira Never heard of Rex but what a lovely boy. He must be related to my old girl though because her grandad is Roundhills Hawaiian Genius.
Well done Sarah for taking all those photos. They are keeping many of us very happy
One more horse wont make any difference Offira Best wishes debs

With that prefix to his name he must have been bred by Tina Cooke of Dorset. She had Indrani and used to breed Anglos and Palominos.
Most people know her as the owner of Ahmoun, Golder Cavalier and Ganemede. |

Thanks everybody, I have found an address for Tina Cooke and I will drop her a line to ask about Indrani and the Hawaiian Queen progeny, particulary the palomino ones. I'll post with anything I find out or if I acquire another horse on the way!
Edited to say... I keep looking at those fabulous photos of Stourvale Bourbon Rex. He is so lovely.

Thanks very much Tamila, I look forward to hearing about it. I doubt very much if Mrs Cooke will remember the dam of my PBA as it was so long ago, but she was a pony mare called Minuette from Dorchester. Her son by Indrani is now 32 and King of all he surveys! |

Unfortunately Tina does not have any pictures of Stourvale Bourbon Rex but she thinks he was exported to Belgium and became Belgium National Champion. His dam was an American Saddlebred.
I am afraid that she does not remember Minuette but does recognise the name. She thinks it is wonderful that your boy is still going. |

I had a lovely day and managed to visit another friend of mine who lives around the corner from Tina's and still arrived home in time to feed the gang in the evening. OH drove me down as he had business in the area and he treated me to breakfast on the way. I never do this when I go on my own.
I find it so claustophobic around here (Woking) when I come back from Dorset.
I have just noticed that you knew Jill Duke, Sarah. I knew her some years back and bought a filly from her and also rugs and boots. They were wonderful as they were made to measure. The boots actually saved my Milly's legs when she had a dreadful accident in the lorry. |

Hi there , I used to buy alot of rugs from Jill for my myself & my friends! Yes i have known Jill since i started showing Palominos in the early 90`s. I have stayed at her place in Wales a couple of times aswell. I did a 500 mile round trip one weekend about 10 yrs ago to buy a palomino colt "Doylan Reflection",for my daughter. Jill met us at Carmathan & came up to Fiona Livermores with (I hadn`t even seen a pic of the colt before i went either)! Well i bought him & lowered Fiona`s herd down to 97 We both had B&B at Jills for the night before going back to Devon. Several years later i did the same thing after buying a lovely PBA mare Clinwil Sheer Delight" from Hereford .....I also bought a rug from Jill for my new ponies each time before setting off home! What was the filly called that you bought from Jill ? |

It was along time ago (22 years)but she was called Zahrika and was a bay arab 3 year old. She was either by Magic Argosy or out of a mare by him. |

Spelling is wrong it should be Zarika. I sold her many years ago to Iraq (before the troubles) and she has had five foals since one of which is in Jordan and two have 2 or 3 foals themselves. |
