Reply author: sab2 I have bred a lovely filly this year she is a Arab cross Trakehner and having seen a few of them they do make a fab cross, it all depends what you are looking to breed of course and what you would like to compete in with your new foal.I woul;d put pics on but having tried a few times i have now fallen out with Flickr sorry. Good luck in your choice.
Reply author: Tomos Definately the Hispano Arabe (arab/ Andalusian) for me, pics on my web site

Reply author: pinkvboots Littlearabians your foals are gorgeous I could take one home I also like the Arab x QH but I would like a Arab x Oldenburg or a similar warmblood type the Hanoverian are a lovely type to, must say though I like most of the Arab crosses that I have seen. Alcoboy have a look on the internet they do exist.

Reply author: vjc You are a star Rui, I think there are a few of us who are totally bamboozled by the changes!!!
Reply author: sab2 Thankyou
Reply author: Rui You're both welcome .
Reply author: lisa rachel Welshx Arab is lovely (our Hamnah's breeding), Iberian crosses are drop dead gorgeous, brave and intelligent... Tomos's are lovely, well worth a peek at her website and I love Anglos but for me the best stallion to use on a purebred mare is a purebred stallion, sorry, I know I am being narrow minded but for me nothing else comes close....
Reply author: Nichole Waller I've got a Welsh x Arab (although 75% welsh) and she is great fun. There was a straight cross Arab Welsh on our yard a few years ago and she was a fab jumping horse and excellent at hunting.
Reply author: Miska Arabo friesians are gorgeous! Not that I've ever seen one in the flesh, only pictures. I think I read somewhere that the breeding of them is quite restricted because of their huge potential as carriage horses. They tend to be bred more friesian than arab.
Reply author: natntaz I used to own a arab x welsh, she was lovely but much
Reply author: Spangle

I have had an Arab x Welsh mare Anoushka, who was fantastic- a real character but we had an amazing relationship and she was so much fun when we worked each other out! Anoushka 1995 1999 2001? I currently have Spangle- a 4 yo Arab/ TB/ Highland- Arab Stallion used on TB/Highland Mare. She sounds very similar to the ArabxQH pictured and descibed earlier and I think will also take a while to mature. Whilst I never intended getting something similar to my old mare I have ended up with something that could hardly have been more like her- hopefully we have just as great times together! She is a future endurance prospect but will also have a dressage and possibly ridden showing career as well. Spangle Summer 2010 Spangle Winter 2009 2008 as a 2 yr old
Reply author: xsara I have a arab x warmblood she is turning out to be nice.
Reply author: Jamana If i am honest though and i am not saying this to wind
Reply author: kimzi Hi lindsay the arab x fresian aka turbo fresian is very popular on the continent and is now being thought of as the premier breed for trials driving
Reply author: littlearabians Natntaz:
Reply author: rollin I have two rare breeds - Shagya Arabs and Cleveland Bays.
Reply author: saddlebred It does depend what you want them for but I would have to give another vote for the Arab x Saddlebred (AKA American Sporthorse or American National Show Horse).
Reply author: Callisto I like the sound of the Cleveland Bay x Arab combination, I used to own a TB x CB mare, she was a fantastic sensitive ride and a brilliant jumper, she was also incredibly fast, but so safe. Sadly lost her when she was 24, but a marvellous valiant lady. Your filly is very nice Rollin.
Reply author: natntaz I have seen some great x's with arabs in the past
Reply author: rollin Callisto that is nice to hear. Both CB's and Shagya's jump and have great stamina. One CB mare was 9th in the UK cup at 80km endurance.
Reply author: Callisto Rollin, sadly I didn't have her pedigree so I don't know her dam's name, she'd been used for sport horse breeding before I bought her, but at some stage before that she had been very well schooled. I wasn' t really too worried about her breeding when I bought her, I was just looking for a nice riding horse for my husband, we had no idea of her abilities ( don't think the seller did either). She could trot at 16-18 km an hour for miles and she easily beat a 4 year old tb bred for the track in a gallop on the beach when she was about 14, so I can easily believe that they make excellent performance horses in a number of spheres, and crossed with an Arab would make a superb endurance horse.
Reply author: mouse What about Arab x Appaloosa? Puts a bit more substance on the Arab and very popular for endurance
Reply author: leiat8 hey personally i think this is a great cross
Reply author: sab2 Leiat8 i love it, we have a couple of donkeys live with us wonder if my arab boy fancies the jenny ( only joking) must admit the arab mule looks so cute, wonder if its been bred for showing, endurance or ridden classes ( only joking again)
Reply author: Cate leiat8, Absolutely gorgeous.
Reply author: honey this is my part bred her sire was sistonce who was a straight russian arab. dam as said was a 3/4tb x cob
Reply author: vjc Am loving this thread fab horses folks
Reply author: Nichole Waller Did anyone see 'Under the spell of horses' on the H & C channel...? What about a Marwari x Arab...? That might make an interesting horse...?
Reply author: leiat8 i saw it that would be a fab cross and a cracking endurance horse! once saw an akhal teke x arab, beautiful metallic dun
Reply author: karen d Our Araloosa, By my Arab stallion Calimeer out of our Appaloosa mare 'pumpkin'!!
Reply author: Kazhak for me I would have to say Arabian Pony, as there is such a huge range within the cross. of course I'm still for purebred breeding too, but crossing the Arab over other breeds has produced some very interesting results.. will admit that I think arab crossed over anything can be a major improvement for the other breed lol..
Reply author: Gemma My beloved Marygold (Minnismoor Mistique) is an interesting mix of breeds: arab, tb and welsh sections. ArabianLines.Com Forum : http://www.arabianlines.com/forum1/ © 2001 - 2014 www.arabianlines.com |
